“If one were to go only on what one reads or sees in the media, one would think it’s the spring of 2020 all over again. The headlines are filled with stories of overcrowded hospitals, overwhelmed medical personnel, and predictions of people dying in parking lots waiting for medical care. The news articles generally quote a staffer of some kind at various hospitals and then leave it at that.

This story makes perfect sense. Assuming there is evidence that recent variants of the Covid virus (Delta, Delta Plus, Lambda) are evading acquired immunity, pushing therapeutics is the right public-health response.
I’m pretty sure most Americans thought the Covid vaccines would eradicate the virus. Introducing non-vaccine pharmaceuticals to combat Covid might seem like a signal of vaccine failure, but I think it should have been part of public-health policy from the beginning.

One of the new laws is you have to bring the body or a death certificate to have the vote counted. 😇
Vaccines get all the attention, but therapeutics are certain to become a larger part of the public-health policy response to Covid-19. The reason is simple. Covid-19 cannot be eradicated by vaccination alone the way polio, smallpox and measles can be. It is therefore inevitable that therapeutics will grow in importance.

Do the vaccinated have the right and/or duty to avoid the non-vaccinated in social and work situations?
This goes along the line of banning mandates in some states, which forces the onus of protection solely on the vaccinated. Do they refuse to go to work where nothing is mandated and lose pay or advancement. Skipping concerts? Avoiding worship? Or should that be the purview of the non-vaccinated.

You sometimes hear people say that government R&D spending is beneficial for the economy because of the innovative goods that derive from it. You should also wonder, of course, about the innovative goods private R&D spending might have produced had it not been diverted into taxation.

Karma. Cruel as this sounds, I hold the right wing media folks, who are making millions off of lies and misinformation about COVID, responsible for untold deaths in this new variant season. Yes, FOX briefly “came to Jesus” probably for pending suits, but the dead folks, old at first, but much younger now, would have been alive except for their sources outside government, doctors and MSM.
