DeSantis sets plan for Regeneron monoclonal antibodies to fight COVID-19

Source: Local 10 News in South Florida.

This story makes perfect sense. Assuming there is evidence that recent variants of the Covid virus (Delta, Delta Plus, Lambda) are evading acquired immunity, pushing therapeutics is the right public-health response.

I’m pretty sure most Americans thought the Covid vaccines would eradicate the virus. Introducing non-vaccine pharmaceuticals to combat Covid might seem like a signal of vaccine failure, but I think it should have been part of public-health policy from the beginning.

  1. It’s not a bad thing, but like all anti-viral measures it is only useful very early in the course of the disease.

A better choice would be to authorize the use of Ivermectin off-label in FL. and to recommend the use of the I-Mask+ protocol by primary care physicians in the State. The monoclonal antibodies must be given by infusion and many will avoid that until it is past the optimum time. I-Mask+ is just pills, administered at the proper time for each stage.

The key is to bring early treatment down to the primary care physician level. Early treatment is more important than which treatment.

I also thought of Ivermectin. I’m just thankful Florida is trying something new.

      1. The real point is that ANY antiviral, Ivermectin, Regeneron, Recemdevir, or even HCQ is better than nothing EARLY. and worse than nothing latter.

The FLCCC protocols are set up to deal with every stage. If I-Mask+ doesn’t keep you out of the hospital, then there is the MATH+ protocol for later in the disease.

The proper treatment of COVID is not one drug, it is the right mixture of treatments at the RIGHT TIME.

  2. “Ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure.”

That has not changed no matter what the anti-vaxxers say.

“Live Free and Die”, the new motto of the hesitancy movement.

My flippancy is simply masking my outrage at the continuing effort to keep COVID thriving and watching healthcare workers burnout, elective procedures cancelled and ICU’s set up in parking garages.

Treatment for COVID is important, but not as important as prevention or mitigation BEFORE illness takes hold. And that we have the resources and the technology to do just that while catering to a core of folks who feel they owe nothin’ to no one, no how, no where.

Let’s call it the #Justme movement.

The key risk at present is the possibility that SARS-COV-2 has mutated into a vaccine resistant form, or will soon do so. Expanding treatment options is the only rational response.

      1. By all means, we should not dismiss treatment research. After all, there are millions who cannot tolerate or benefit from a vaccine for a variety of legitimate reasons.

        1. Good point. Just to keep the conversation real, we should also acknowledge that vaccines will never be a sufficient response to the pandemic.

          2. The only tyranny is by the hesitant folks who are creating mayhem, illness, and death because they don’t care about others.
