Good News for a Change
At least I think it is.
The Danger Is Real
The Guardian looks at the state of the GOP. Here, from the article, is the key take-away:
“I have long said that January 6 was merely a dress rehearsal for how Republicans intend to try to hijack free and fair democratic elections in this country going forward,” added [Kurt] Bardella, a former Republican congressional aide.
“They know that when the playing field is level and everybody can participate in the democratic process, they cannot win, so the only recourse that they believe that they can obtain power is by throwing out democratic norms and overthrowing elections, even if that means using instruments of violence, fear and terror to do so.”
Victimized Bully Syndrome
Here “conservatives”, have a look into the mirror. You will not like it but try thinking about what is being said.
It is not just the “leftists” at Salon who have noted the victimhood politics of “conservatives.” Google “conservative victimhood” to find dozens more similar pieces in reputable journals. No wonder you love your guns so much. You have convinced yourselves that everyone is coming to get you.
Chairman Donald
For those of you stuck in the bubble, this is what it looks like from the outside.
Food for thought . . .
American Fascists – Nothing New
The following quote from Vice President Henry Wallace from April 9, 1944 goes to show that the American experience of the last few years is nothing new. The people he describes are very recognizable in today’s politics.
“The American fascists are most easily recognized by their deliberate perversion of truth and fact. Their newspapers and propaganda carefully cultivate every fissure of disunity .…They claim to be super-patriots, but they would destroy every liberty guaranteed by the Constitution. They demand free enterprise, but are the spokesmen for monopoly and vested interest. Their final objective toward which all their deceit is directed is to capture political power so that, using the power of the state and the power of the market simultaneously, they may keep the common man in eternal subjection.”
Future President Ocasio-Cortez tells it like it is.
At any place of employment posting a “joke” about murdering colleagues would get you fired but today’s Republican Party is unable to simply acknowledge that it was wrong. It is worth noting that since the assassination of JFK, it has been criminal to threaten the President, but Gosar’s “joke” showed him going after President Biden after having killed AOC. Why should THAT law not be enforced?
I am sure that some will claim that it was just a “joke” so why the big deal. AOC directly addresses why it IS a big deal for Congress to accept such “jokes.”
