Admission of Guilt?

Cannot wait to hear what all of those who called it a hoax have to say about this admission.

Surgical precision, which is similar to what SCOTUS ruled wrt NC district gerrymandering on racial basis, may not be there in words, but those with reading comprehension skills can see it … as long as they take their bliinders off.

Time to bury the climate boogeyman

Curry review of trends in climate policy

The IPCC used to consider an increase of 3.5°C as a catastrophic change, but they have moved to goalpost to 2°C and targeted policy for 1.5°C. Keep in mind that is measured from pre-industrial times. The average temperature is already 1.1°C above pre-industrial levels.

So, we’re basing policy on trying to hold temperatures to a increase of 0.4°C between now and 2100, just over a third of the change over the last 100 years.

We can’t even measure average global temperature within 1°C

Be careful what you wish for.

MAGA-Republicans have been very pleased with Elon Musk taking control of Twitter and promising a return to moderation-free “free speech.” At last MAGA-Republicans can tweet whatever they want without those pesky “woke” rules and obstacles such as bans on hate-speech and “alternative facts.” It is gonna be great, right?

Too bad that Musk did not comprehend the source of the revenues that somehow made Twitter worth $44 Billion, Here is a hint – it is paid advertising. And guess what? Major advertisers do not want to be associated with racism, misogyny, nativism, homophobia, sedition, hate speech, egregious LIES or gross incivility of any sort.

Musk is now trying to blame Twitter’s imploding revenues on “activists.” Uh, nope. It is his statements and actions that have convinced big advertisers that the un-moderated cesspool he is heading for will not be good for their brands. Simple.

George Takei has generously tried to explain this for Mr. Musk. . .

The One Chart That Explains Everything

The writer proposes that superpower competition between China and the USA is the singular backdrop for geopolitical events today. According to this view, the U.S. wishes, if it could, to encircle China with military bases so that Chinese territorial and economic expansions can be curtailed or controlled. Russia, with its long border with China, stands in the way of this U.S. interest.

The writer may be onto something. But if he is correct about the prevailing mind set of the U.S. foreign policy establishment today, I want a reset. So what, if China’s per capita GDP surpasses the USA’s (circa 2030)? We needn’t view that as a threat.

The GOP should run Trump in 2024, and lose

Debt service death spiral

The national debt has exploded in recent years. We have gotten away with it so far because interest rates for financing the debt have been abnormally low. But interest rates have to go up now to slow inflation, and as bonds are rolled over, they will be reissued at much higher rates.

No matter who is sworn in Jan 2025, within a year, debt service will consume all of our revenues.

There is no way out I can see. Printing money will only increase inflation and all the entitlements linked to the rate of inflation.

So, let the Democrats win and let the collapse of the United States government and national bankruptcy fall on their watch.

I suspect they know this and that’s why they are throwing the 2024 election with an unelectable candidate.

Will Biden Gamble on a Ukraine Coalition?

Source: The American Conservative.

Some days all you can do is shake your head in wonder. It seems almost impossible to me that our political leadership might be contemplating sending an army to fight in Ukraine, but the signs are mounting.

We already have boots on the ground in the battlefield — allegedly inventory takers attempting to account for weapons and stores previously delivered. We also have boots near the ground in Romania — avowedly ready to deploy at a moment’s notice. And we have an increasingly bellicose-sounding commander in chief whose grip on reality is just loose enough to give the order.

Worse, the American people probably don’t know that the Ukrainian government and military are close to final collapse. To save them will be like saving a car after it has been totaled.
