Most of the sources I consult for news about the war in Ukraine stopped publishing military situation reports (“sitreps”) months ago. I don’t know why. Perhaps it is because TV news shows stopped giving time to retired generals to bloviate over maps of Ukraine.

Here is a particularly good sitrep. I don’t know anything about the author, so I suppose he might work for the Kremlin. That, of course, wouldn’t mean that his analysis is flawed or that — if he is American — he lacks patriotism. Rather, his work is timely in light of current events and addresses a number of themes which are much discussed in other forums. In short, an informative summary.

I was the Virginia State Director for the FairTax 20 years ago. I know the plan in detail, and briefed Congressmen on the plan. I will state outright, that it is a better way to finance government and brings transparency and good governance to Congress, but sadly, because our voter base is so ill informed, it is too easy to demagogue and has become a political loser.

But if the public were as well informed on civics and government as the average 1800 farmer, it could fix a loe of wha is wrong with Congress and the country.

To fight pornography in the schools, a Texas housewife recently appeared at a school-board meeting. She lectured the officials: “I do not want my children to learn about anal sex in middle school. … I want you to start focusing on education, not public health.”

Education, as we’ll see, is the first refuge of scoundrels. Do you imagine that this school board is hip and cutting-edge? In fact, liberals have had few new ideas in more than a century. During World War 1, the communist government of Hungary “imposed a system of pornographic sex education on Hungarian school pupils.” Ever since, communists have tried the same pervy tricks again and again.

During World War 1, the deputy people’s commissar for culture and education was an extreme Marxist named György Lukács, then considered the most brilliant communist since Marx himself. He advocated promiscuity, denounced the family, and encouraged children to mock their parents and religion. The question Lukács posed was, “Who will save us from Western civilization?”

Marxist theory circa 1900 said that if Europe ever erupted in war, the working classes in every European country would rise in revolt and create a new communist Europe. Instead, the workers in every country lined up by the millions to fight their country’s enemies.

Why is Marxist theory incorrect? Two leading Marxist intellectuals, Antonio Gramsci in Italy and Lukács in Hungary, independently came up with the same answer. They said that Western culture and the Christian religion had so blinded the working class to its true, Marxist class interests, that a communist revolution was impossible in the West until both could be destroyed. That objective, established as cultural Marxism’s goal at the beginning, has never changed.

When WWI was over, Marxists set about devising strategies specifically aimed at conquering Western civilization, which is still their main obsession.

Despite the xenophobia displayed by some people, I believe Americans as a whole are a welcoming, charitable people, willing to lend a helping hand where we can. This program will give those Americans an opportunity to help while not costing the more self-serving among us a dime.

“Under the pilot program, which will be called the Welcome Corps, groups of at least five people will be expected to raise a minimum of $2,275 per refugee assigned to them by the government, one of the people said. The sponsor groups will also be required to pass background checks and create a support plan.”

I’d also like to point out that people from all over the world come to America seeking a better life. They come in such numbers, we sometimes have trouble accommodating them all. No one is going to Russia in search of a better life. The only way Russia can claim new citizens is by invading their countries. We aren’t doing everything right, but we’re doing a damn sight better than Russia… and the whole world knows it.

“Conservative” hero Tucker Carlson cannot contain his glee announcing the resignation of New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern. She is, of course, anathema to MAGA-Republicans because while Trump floundered, she successfully lead New Zealand through the first and most dangerous phase of the pandemic with strict public health measures. The measure of her success can be seen clearly in the following:

Achieving such a massive saving of life required public health policies that “conservatives” hate including masking, social distancing, quarantine of cases, and mandatory vaccinations. She is therefore fair game for Tucker. According to him she is a “totalitarian,” “an appalling abuser of human rights,” and a “puppet of the Chinese government.” Even worse she is the “lady with the big teeth.”

Here is a sample of Tucker’s presentation. A technique he uses again and again. Outrageous slanders disguised as questions . . .

“What are the chances she was a puppet of the Chinese government? We don’t have enough evidence to prove that, but we would rate that as about 100% likely.”

Enough evidence? You don’t have ANY evidence! Left out of this “analysis” is why China would give a rat’s ass about New Zealand’s covid policy. Of course, Tucker knows his audience and the accusation of a link to “Chy-Na” without evidence is all he needs. They will absorb the slander without thinking or asking obvious questions.

It is certainly reasonable to challenge New Zealand’s priorities and policies but it is worth noting that if our government had achieved the same level of mortality that they did, approximately 940,000 lives could have been saved. Before you ask – the age demographics of NZ are very similar to ours with 16% over 65 versus our 17%.

What once was theory now is emerging as reality. Saudi Arabia’s finance minister said yesterday in Davos that the kingdom is “open to discussions about trade in currencies other than the US dollar,” according to ZeroHedge (via Bloomberg).

The transition away from the petrodollar will go down in history as one of the greatest failures of Biden administration foreign policy. On the other hand, most of the world will probably benefit from the liberation of energy markets from U.S. influence.

Recent court filings have revealed the fact that the butcher of Riyadh – Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud – funneled uncounted millions of dollars into Donald Trump’s pockets WHILE HE WAS PRESIDENT. This is the reason that a real divestment of business interests should be a requirement of the Presidency. Such foreign emoluments were a clear danger recognized by the Founding Fathers.
