But, but, but Hunter Biden’s Laptop.

Recent court filings have revealed the fact that the butcher of Riyadh – Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud – funneled uncounted millions of dollars into Donald Trump’s pockets WHILE HE WAS PRESIDENT. This is the reason that a real divestment of business interests should be a requirement of the Presidency. Such foreign emoluments were a clear danger recognized by the Founding Fathers.

  1. In reality, divestment from business interests for Presidents and Congressmen is a bad idea.

They are supposed to serve for a time and then return to the private sector. Requiring them to completely leave the private sector during and for years after their terms encourages career politicians.

Placing their businesses under the control of others while they serve is adequate.

Sure, a truly blind trust would be sufficient. Not one run by your children.

Interesting your hair is constantly on fire over Hunter Biden little gig but Trump can rake in millions from a fascist criminal and not a peep of protest. Yes, we know. You do not like his style.

      1. No, Trump was in the business of real estate and resorts BEFORE he entered politics.

Hunter’s “business” interests are 100% dependent on access to Joe. Absent his father’s influence, Hunter would be living in a cardboard box

  2. This is a stupid story written by Saudi Arabian political activists. The basic transactions on which it is based appear to be legitimate and do not raise any substantive conflict-of-interest issues, except in the fevered imaginations of Arab activists who lament the murder of Jamal Kashoggi.

    1. I grant you that this story was prepared by Saudi activists who are not happy with their fellow Saudi’s being butchered. They most certainly are not neutral. However, this is not an opinion piece. It is reporting the heretofore hidden facts of the financial benefits lavished on Trump by a notorious foreign leader. And these facts are part of a well-documented pattern of Trump and his family members receiving million and millions from foreign interests while in office and supposedly working for the American people.

Didn’t read your own source again, eh?

DAWN’s “report” is a rehash of a Washington Post editorial that was published last April. So, no, the “facts” were not “heretofore hidden.” Your source cites the WAPO item.

RE: “And these facts are part of a well-documented pattern of Trump and his family members receiving million and millions from foreign interests while in office and supposedly working for the American people.”

I don’t think so. The questioned transactions occurred after Trump left office. DAWN’s pitiful allegation is that Trump was nice to MBS while in office and received his “payment” later.

It is the direct ownership and control of LIV by MBS that was the new information disclosed in a court filing this month. Yes, you are right. We already knew that Saudis were greasing the palms of Trump and family in a variety of ways.

Sorry, no. LIV Golf was created in 2021 (after Trump left office) and has always been owned by “the Public Investment Fund, the sovereign wealth fund of Saudi Arabia” (Wikipedia).

          1. Kushner did even better. A failed scion of a real estate felon was rewarded with billions for his “investment firm” from the Saudis. Wonder what the Big Guy from Mar a Lago got.

Kinda makes Hunter Biden’s deal insignificant.

          2. Well, I understand.

“It’s Easier to Fool People Than to Convince Them That They Have Been Fooled”

If you have invested yourself in the person of a cult leader you can just not handle the truth. Donald Trump is now and always has been a criminal, a con man, and huckster playing people for suckers. There is nothing that he has ever touched that did anything but turn to shit. Try to believe it. It is the obvious truth.

          3. He was a useful idiot for Republican right wingers and overseas dictators. The GOP realizes that it hitched its wagon to a crook, but MAGA has too many votes for it to ignore. So we have normally sensible and reasonably intelligent Republicans denying 2020 to stay viable in primary land.

Still, the strategy is to keep Trump in the rear view mirror, and not in the drivers seat. Then let him play at driving in the parking lot. Unfortunately there are a couple of dozen certified loonies who are still in his orbit of ignorant chicanery, so the influence is still there.

At least that is my take.
