CEI send Paris Accord to Senate

President Obama set out to implement the Paris Accord without sending it to the Senate for ratification by declaring it to be a legal fiction, a binding agreement that was not a treaty.

Trump left the accord, but Biden has promised to rejoin it on his first day. But if President Trump were to rejoin the accord, and accept it as a treaty, he could then send it to the Senate where it stands zero change of being ratified, permanently killing it no matter what Biden does.

He has every bit as much power to do that as Obama had to pretend it was not a treaty.

The theory is that for most people under 65, the measures we are taking to suppress COVID are worse than the disease. So, scarce resources, like vaccines, should be used to protect the small part of the population that is likely to die. Don’t waste doses on those who have laready had the virus and recovered, or on people under 65 without complications conditions until the vulnerable population is safe.

Once they are protected, open the economy, let people take the precautions they choose, and let herd immunity happen through the combination of continued vaccination and the recovery of healthy, young people who aren’t at much risk.

COVID is only an emergency, justifying closing down the economy, because people die. Stop the dying and the emergency is over.

WTF?

Those vaccine doses are not Northam’s to give. They belong to the citizens of Virginia. Absent a vote from the legislature authorizing diverting Virginia’ allocation to another state, or DC, is gross malfeasance, and Northam should be removed from office and prosecuted.

Virginians will die waiting for that shortfall to be made up.

Military strategy statements can be pretty boring. This one, for example, shows for the nth time there can be no such thing as an aesthetically interesting photograph taken of ships at sea. Nevertheless, these periodic statements retain some practical interest because they actually are used to establish military doctrine, operations, training, materiel, leadership and education, personnel, and facilities — all the things we taxpayers pay for.

In that context Advantage at Sea (published yesterday) is noteworthy in several respects.

You can’t say there is no evidence of fraud in the 2020 election.

The Navarro Report doesn’t prove that Joe Biden stole the election from Donald Trump, but it does provide a usefully constructed catalog of specific allegations. It organizes the allegations into six types (or dimensions) of irregularity and rates their prevalence in each of five battleground states. The result is like a roadmap for discussion of election integrity issues.

I think the report is significant just because it exists. To my (limited) knowledge nothing like it has ever been produced in response to the outcome of a presidential race.

The Hill: Biden’s Looming Disaster

Sometimes, when a dog chases a bus, the worst thing for him is that he catches it.

President Obama benefited from boarding the ship at low tide and getting credit for it rising. Biden will enjoy no such benefit.

The economy is rebounding from what nearly everyone has come to see as a Black Swan.

Operation Warp Speed is handing off a victory over the virus as a fait accompli.

The world is at relative peace, middle east peace appears to be finally at hand.

From any objective measure, there is no where to go but down, and the policies his radical wing of his party are pushing on him will guarantee the fall will be precipitous.

This is going to be fun to watch.

Last night Catherine Herridge reported that Director of National Intelligence, John Ratcliff, “told CBS News that there was foreign election interference by China, Iran and Russia in November of this year, and he is anticipating a public report on those findings in January.”

A similar Intelligence Community assessment published in 2017 led to allegations, still believed by many, that Donald Trump was illegitimately elected to his first term. In light of controversies surrounding Joe Biden and the 2020 election, the new DNI report may have the same effect.
