The story concerns a Rasmussen poll. The poll results interest me because I imagine the participants who expressed totalitarian views would object to being called totalitarians.

Youngkin’s executive order to end school mask mandates gets pushback
The language of EO 2 seems clear, but Norfolk, VB, IOW, Northampton, Richmond, Fairfax, and Arlington have all said mask mandates will remain in place. I wonder what the rationale is. Maybe their legal departments think they have a defendable case if (when) it comes to that?
Ann Coulter Dumps Trump?
https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/589995-conservative-pundit-ann-coulter-says-trump-is-done?rl=1
Ms. Coulter, a right wing firebrand talking head, who wrote a book entitled “In Trump We Trust”, now says he is “done”.
I don’t buy it. If he were, there wouldn’t be a line of candidates at Mar-a-Lago BEGGING for his endorsement.
But to Ms. Coulter’s new view: Is she saying he’s “done” because she really means it or has she been left out of the limelight for so long, she’ll do anything just to be remembered? I lean to the second posit.
Some on this forum said several months ago that Mr. Trump was irrelevant. I didn’t buy it then, and I sure as heck not buying it now.
Governor Glenn Youngkin Signs 11 Day One Executive Actions
Source: Governor of Virginia (official website).
Although other executive actions have received more attention, the one that interests me most is Number Seven, Establishing the Commission On Human Trafficking Prevention and Survivor Support.
Human trafficking is modern day slavery. It doesn’t get the attention it deserves. Forming a commission to address the problem in Virginia may seem a modest action, but it is a first step that — not taken — might never have been noticed.
HHS Will Stop Counting COVID Deaths on Feb. 2, According to New Guidance for Hospitals
Is this good or bad? I don’t know.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, government-reported Covid-19 death metrics have been controversial for a variety of technical reasons.
The end of hospital data collection for Covid-19 deaths may mean the public will be less well-informed than otherwise. OR, it may mean that irrelevant data is finally being abandoned.
I doubt the latter but think the former wasn’t much help to begin with. What do you think?
Deaths among working age climbed dramatically in last 2 years.
Non-COVID related increased also, but the percentages are lower. Crowding out the normal access for diagnostics and emergencies like stroke and heart attacks seems to add to the mix
Working age adults accounted for 40% of COVID deaths in 3rd quarter of 2021 according to the article. Surprising to me.
Virginia’s New AG Fires Civil Rights Division, Will Start Prosecuting Cases Dropped By ‘Social Justice’ DAs
This sounds promising. In management true changes of direction often start with bold moves.
Under the state’s former administration Virginia seemed to me to be emulating California. Let’s hope the current shakeup heralds a return to being ourselves.
Tulsi Gabbard Makes a Fair Point
Biden’s First year review
Oh, the hummanity
I mean I knew they would drive it in the ditch, I just didn’t know how soon or so hard.
