Economic Growth, Not Austerity, Is the Answer to Inflation

Source: The Wall Street Journal.

This brief commentary packs a wallop of truth. The main insight is that inflation has many causes, but only one cure: economic growth (meaning more production).

It is also a useful antidote to the poisonous view that President Biden is not to blame for current inflation. Well, yes, blaming the president may be less than helpful, but a president whose policies do not encourage the economy to grow across the board deserves blame for something.

Paxlovid rebound

Fauci taking 2nd round of Paxlovid

You might remember that I recently wrote about my concerns over Immunological Original Sin, the problem of over-vaccinated people failing to make antibodies to the new variants of COVID and instead just making more of the obsolete antibodies.

Sometimes I hate being right.

Paxlovid works by stopping the virus from replicating for a while, it doesn’t eradicate it. But the idea is that by the time you finish the treatment, your body has had enough time to make antibodies that will.

But what if your body uses that time making the wrong antibodies? That is what happened to Fauci. So, Paxlovid only delayed the infection.

The FDA needs to get busy and get those bivalent vaccines to the marketplace with a new OWS type effort or it’s going to get ugly this fall.

Finally the really important decision

WSJ WVA v EPA

This is the one that mattered. More so than overturning Roe or even Bruen

While the decision is based on the EPA’s overreach on green house gases, it is a dagger to the heart of the regulatory state. For example, the FDA’s presumption that in regulating drugs they could also dictate the practice of medicine is on the chopping block.

When Congress delegates powers to regulators, it will have to be specific about what can be done.  Regulators will not be able to simply assume new powers on their own.

SCOTUS may yet save Biden from himself, by taking away his ability to screw up.

New York’s Noncitizen Voting Is Illegal

Source: The Wall Street Journal.

WSJ’s editorial board provides a short, but avowedly incomplete, list of reasons why New York City’s noncitizen voting law is illegal. I am struck with mild astonishment that any jurisdiction anywhere (in the world) would pass a law that allows noncitizens to vote. Surely it is common sense that citizenship inherently is a prerequisite for having the right to vote.

Tired of a founding principle?

Someone on this forum has said numerous times that there should be some sort of “test” for voters. I contend that it should be candidates that should be tested. On the Constitution they swear an oath to support and defend. An elected representative, regardless of what district he or she represents, that states that the church should be directing the government, should be disqualified from running for office.

And the question arises for Rep. Boebert, “Which church?”

For those of you who have been supportive of recent SCOTUS decisions that are chipping away at the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment and the Separation of Church and State, need to pay close attention. A potential theocratic government is on the horizon, unless people pay attention and stand firm against it. – IMO
