Attempts at public humiliations backfire.

Those pesky scientists. Trying to tell the truth. CDC Director Redfield was supposed to bow his head in shame and recant. A modern day Galileo. He refused to play along. And the former head of our national vaccine effort, Dr. Rick Bright refused to go quietly into the night after he was removed for standing up against peddling snake oil “game changers”.

I have noted before the Stalinist nature of Trumpism. These episodes reminds us that Stalin, too, tried to rewrite the laws of nature by making Lysenkoism the official state version of biological science. In those times to speak the truth about the science was to risk your career and even your life. So far, at least, truth tellers around Trump only risk their careers.

The lying never stops.

Many of the favorite Trump-created lies repeated regularly by die-hard Trump apologists are debunked in this wide ranging article.

That we are being lead through this disaster by such a petty, ignorant self-aggrandizing and dishonest charlatan will play large in the history books. Teapot Dome, Watergate, Iran-Contra will all be forgotten but the reign of this TV Clown will be famous for centuries to come. For all the wrong reasons.

Trump virus lies about Biden.

One of Trump’s current lies in defense of his desultory leadership during the pandemic is that Joe Biden did not take the threat seriously either. The link above is to an opinion piece published by Joe Biden IN JANUARY where he made it very clear the threat was real and that Trump was not the leader we would need. If Trump was a competent politician – let alone President – he would have reacted to that piece with strong action. But, of course, he did not because he is not.

Blue Tsunami rolling in?

Trump carried Wisconsin by about 30,000 votes in 2016. In fact, recent statewide elections have been decided by similar close margins. Not this time. The “leftist” candidate defeated the Trump-endorsed incumbent by 120,000 votes. You know, the candidate about whom Trump bragged that his endorsement was the only reason the Democrats wanted to postpone the election.

As a reminder, this is the state that the GOP SCOTUS ruled had to conduct its election without delay and without extending time for mail-in votes to be counted. This is what the Republicans fought for in spite of the risk to the voters from the virus. Their voter suppression on steroids backfired badly.
