Thanks to the efforts of those “enemies of the people”, you know, the free press, we now know that Donald Trump LIED to the nation when he called in to Sean Hannity to say that he was waiting for test results to see if he had caught the virus. In fact, he had received a positive test before that call. That test was on his return from that fund raiser that he attended while trying to keep Hope Hicks condition a secret – a dangerous LIE of omission. Now, the State of New jersey is saddled with contact tracing on more than the 200 people exposed to the virus by being in contact with Trump. And those 200 people SHOULD all self-quarantine for 2 weeks. Being Trump supporters, they probably will not.

LYING, just like the virus, seems to be contagious around Trump. His doctor now admits that the rosy news at the press conference on the steps of Walter Reed was for an audience of one. He justifies his DISHONESTY with claims that the health of the patient would be impaired by the bad news of a more honest assessment.

Bottom line – we have no idea about the state of health of the President of the United States. Was the photo-op joy ride a sign of recovery or did the drugs administered to treat a severe infection give him a temporary boost of energy. Again, there is no way to know the truth with this President.

Mr. Trump decided to proceed with a fund raiser at his New Jersey Golf Club AFTER he knew that Hope Hicks had become infected with the coronavirus – a fact he also kept from his staff and others who worked closely with her. The secret was kept until a reporter was tipped off. Once again, it took someone leaking to get important information to the public and to co-workers. Is this a crime? It ought to be.

At that NJ fundraiser he mingled indoors without masks with his supporters. Good luck old rich people!

As a side note, I read that Hope had taken a test on Wednesday morning which was negative. She began to have symptoms during the day on Wednesday, self-isolated on Air Force One that evening and tested positive on Thursday morning. This virus is insidious. A negative test is NOT a free pass to avoid self-quarantine if you have been around a victim. Let’s see what all those people in the White House choose to do.

Trump has presided over the mostly avoidable deaths of more than 200,000 Americans so he needed an even bigger number to throw at Joe Biden in the “debate.” He found one and by golly it seems that Joe Biden presided over the deaths of more than 300,000 vets in the VA hospital system. Wow! Except, of course, it is a complete falsehood. Just one more way Trump dishonors the “losers” and “suckers” who served. Ho Hum.

Trump really knows how to pick them. Take Stephanie Winston Wolkoff. Her PR fund got $26 million from the Trump Inauguration Committee and she spent about a year as a “friend” and confidant of First Lady, Melania Trump. They had frequent phone conversations where Melania had a chance to vent by speaking confidentially with a friend. Too bad that Melania did not know that her “friend” was secretly taping their personal conversations and now has a year’s worth. She has started making them public to promote her tell all book.

I will not quote Melania’s salty language nor the not-family-friendly things she had to say after her return from that child internment center wearing her infamous jacket with “I Really Don’t Care. Do U?” on the back. The point I would make is the sleazy kind of people in the Trump orbit. We were promised he would bring in all the best people. We are still waiting.

These two non-partisan and usually credible economic organizations give the lie to Trump’s ravings about Biden’s “radical” ideas destroying the economy.

Of course, this is not the last word. Economics is not called the “dismal science” for nothing. But such analyses by respected people is clear evidence that Trump’s the sky-will-fall-on-your-head-if-Biden-wins hooey is not serious and should not be taken seriously.

Targeting heavily Democratic voting areas in Detroit and other cities, these fellows organized robo calls telling mainly black voters that they risked “The Man” coming after them if they voted by mail. The voters were threatened with visits from the police, debt collectors and doctors forcing them to take unwanted vaccinations if they mailed in their ballots. Spreading lies to disrupt an election is a felony in Michigan.

Unbeknownst to the perps, the state’s aggressive Attorney General had a running task force aimed at catching criminals using robo calls to prey on the vulnerable. Her system captured the evidence needed to prosecute and she has made it clear that she will do so to the full extent of the law.

Too bad the Republican Party has to resort to cheating to have any chance of winning. But that is what happens when you field lame candidates with outdated ideas.

Republican Governor Abbott has issued a brazenly partisan order to make it harder for voters to deliver their absentee ballots to election officials. By his edict, the existing program of having ballot drop boxes at convenient locations is cancelled. The hardest hit area is Harris County (Houston) which yesterday had twelve such locations. If the Governor’s edict takes effect, that will be reduced to one TODAY. Harris County is home to 4.5 million people and is about the geographic size of the state of Rhode Island. And now only one place to deliver your ballot!? And, of course, it traditionally votes Democratic. There is no valid reason for this panicky last minute change to the arrangements that had already been communicated to the public. None whatsoever. Simply disgraceful!
