How Liars Wreck a Country

Last year, Forbes concluded that “only 16% of adults in the U.S. say they have a great deal or quite a lot of confidence in newspapers, and just 11% said the same for television news.” Anyone confronting these stats must conclude that our media are deeply incompetent or crooked or both.

The New York Times announced a few years ago that defeating Trump was the important thing. They gave themselves a free pass to lie all they want. How can they now reclaim their honor or their usefulness?

Real journalists, when they hear an assertion, immediately try to determine whether the assertion is true or false. This is also what scientists do. It’s honest, valuable work.

Unfortunately, our liberal journalists do not care about true or false. When they hear an assertion, they try to determine whether it will help their agenda…their narrative.

If it won’t help, they know they must attack the assertion, typically by declaring it debunked, fake news, or misinformation.

I think deep in his heart Biden is a fairly contemptuous person. He takes money from foreign countries and then he looks in the camera and says he and his son have never never ever ever ever discussed business. I was particularly struck by what Tara Reade claims he said after he had abused her. “I don’t care about you at all. You are nothing to me.”]

Ladies and gentlemen…

Most people agree that Chris Stapleton’s Star-Spangled Banner is best ever or close.

Most performers treat the Star-Spangled Banner as a big rousing number in a Broadway musical. They show off their skills. Everyone is impressed. But perhaps not touched.

Stapleton, his guitar, and his Tennessee-whiskey voice were alone in the Super Bowl arena. Millions cried.

Stapleton seemed humble, not concerned with flaunting his talents. Instead he paid tribute to the anthem itself, the history it represents, and the people who died to keep us going. That’s respect.

Few Americans know the story behind the song (apparently our schools don’t like history). During the War of 1812, a British fleet sailed up the Chesapeake Bay to bombard Fort McHenry, as a step toward burning Baltimore, as they had already torched Washington DC. First, they had to destroy the fort.

Why Are Communists Determined to Destroy the US?

To fight pornography in the schools, a Texas housewife recently appeared at a school-board meeting. She lectured the officials: “I do not want my children to learn about anal sex in middle school. … I want you to start focusing on education, not public health.”

Education, as we’ll see, is the first refuge of scoundrels. Do you imagine that this school board is hip and cutting-edge? In fact, liberals have had few new ideas in more than a century. During World War 1, the communist government of Hungary “imposed a system of pornographic sex education on Hungarian school pupils.” Ever since, communists have tried the same pervy tricks again and again.

During World War 1, the deputy people’s commissar for culture and education was an extreme Marxist named György Lukács, then considered the most brilliant communist since Marx himself. He advocated promiscuity, denounced the family, and encouraged children to mock their parents and religion. The question Lukács posed was, “Who will save us from Western civilization?”

Marxist theory circa 1900 said that if Europe ever erupted in war, the working classes in every European country would rise in revolt and create a new communist Europe. Instead, the workers in every country lined up by the millions to fight their country’s enemies.

Why is Marxist theory incorrect? Two leading Marxist intellectuals, Antonio Gramsci in Italy and Lukács in Hungary, independently came up with the same answer. They said that Western culture and the Christian religion had so blinded the working class to its true, Marxist class interests, that a communist revolution was impossible in the West until both could be destroyed. That objective, established as cultural Marxism’s goal at the beginning, has never changed.

When WWI was over, Marxists set about devising strategies specifically aimed at conquering Western civilization, which is still their main obsession.

Who Are the Real Haters?

When Governor Gavin Newsom disappeared for a few weeks after receiving a COVID shot, the public worried: was he alive? His wife did not like this curiosity. You might think citizens have a right to know where their leaders are. Nope. She viewed the nosy public as haters.

Mrs. Newsom posted: “When someone cancels something, maybe they’re just in the office working; maybe in their free time they’re at home with their family, at their kids’ sports matches, or dining out with their wife. Please stop hating and get a life.”

Hating? Who was hating?

Parent Describes K-12 Dystopia

On a regional Mensa forum, I posted analysis of problems in education. To my delight, an indignant parent left her assessment of how bad our schools have become. First-person reports from the trenches are the most reliable intelligence you can get about this murky and unintelligent demimonde:

“I read your article and couldn’t agree more. I have lived it with my twins for the last 13 years. I nearly cried when we moved from a NYC public school to a school district in an affluent part of NJ only to find out they had the same mind-numbing constructivist Math program (TERC, Everyday Math, etc.)….As someone who loved Math in school, I couldn’t believe how much I hated and was confused by their math homework. There were many tears and much throwing of pencils across the room….”

People not familiar with our K-12 situation will find this a quick way to catch up.

The Comintern is the reason we have 50 million functional illiterates. Only 20 years after they started their attack, the decline in literacy was so great that Rudolf Flesch felt compelled to write his famous book, Why Johnny Can’t Read, and Americans felt compelled to buy millions of copies.
