WSJ No basis for search?

The Presidential Records Act is actually somewhat different than I thought it was. Now I understand why Obama could have his records in Chicago. Presidential records belong to the Archives, but they need not be in their actual possession. That’s why Obama’s can be in Chicago supervised by NARA but not actually at the NARA facility.

Two Constituional lawyers explain why Trump couldlegally have those records in his possession for several years.

It’s worth reading to understand the issue better, and explains why the FBI went to a magistrate instead of a real Federal Judge who would not have been fooled.,

This brilliant essay crystallizes several themes I have tried over the years — with far less success — to convey in my own words.

One note. Where the author mentions “the core disciplines of the humanities: grammar, rhetoric, history, poetry, moral philosophy,” he is referring to the Trivium/Quadrivium order that once was the basis for a liberal arts and science education in western societies. In less fancy language that order would be called grammar school and college and the different curriculums that characterize them.

So the “stable genius” who gave the GOP Dr. Mehmet “Crudités” Oz, Herschel Walker, Blake Masters and J.D. Vance thinks Mitch McConnell is a “hack.” GOP’s Trump-induced meltdown on full display. You cannot make this stuff up.

Someone around here is constantly referring to the apocryphal adage by Napoleon to the effect of “Never interfere with an enemy while he’s in the process of destroying himself,” so I will say no more.

One of the first hard lessons I learned in early adulthood was to avoid renting an all-electric apartment. I did that once, not realizing what I was getting into, only to find the VEPCO bill was more than I could afford. I tried juggling VEPCO payments with the rent, but quickly fell behind in both. Nightmares ensued.

I think the same will happen as politicians push forward with their dream of an all-electric society. Electricity is inherently expensive because it is derived, with loses, from other forms of energy. It is also as fussy as a gold digging bride.

At the hearing to decide on whether to release the Mar-a-Lago affidavit Trump was represented by a lawyer who said nothing. It is one thing to demand full disclosure on Fox News. It is something else when it actually is before the court. Apparently.

Then there is this. AG William Barr was given talking points to sabotage the impact of the Mueller Report. A judge ruled that they should be disclosed. She has now been joined by a 3-0 vote on the Court of Appeals.

I would love to believe that Ukraine is a victim state, a freedom loving democracy whose sovereignty and sacred honor have been impugned by a war-crazed tyrannical nation. But I can’t.

Were it not for U.S./NATO meddling, Ukraine and Russia could have resolved their differences long ago. And were it not for U.S./NATO support, Ukraine would not now be fighting a grinding battle it cannot win.

I get the impulse of good-hearted people who want to stand up for Ukraine. I even get wanting to call Russia an Evil Empire.

What I don’t get is people who want to stand up for Ukraine until every Ukrainian is dead or raped. And I don’t get being willing to endure the consequences to our own people and to our friends that must occur when we act with hatred toward a peer nation.

Eschew the MSM propaganda. End the war in Ukraine.
