Happy Constitution Day

Source: National Review.

One of the most profound realizations in my life occurred when I was a volunteer with a small non-profit in Norfolk. The organization had a governing document, its bylaws, which established its officers and the procedures to be followed by its board of directors. I don’t remember what triggered the thought, but one day I suddenly recognized the similarity of the organization’s bylaws and the U.S. Constitution.

Previously I had tended to think of the Constitution as either a philosophical treatise or as a type of contract or grant. But in my moment of recognition, I began to see the Constitution as an article of incorporation, essentially a policy and procedures document.

I have found this particular insight to be perennially useful. So I share it today in honor of the anniversary.

An alternative to batteries

WUWT Hydrogen for transportation.

Fuel cells powered by Hydrogen may be a safer and more efficient alternative to batteries for EVs. No CO2 is emitted.

Hydrogen, at the quantities needed for transportation, can be obtained from natural gas by pyrolysis, splitting methane into hydrogen and carbon black, which is useful for lightweight construction, like fishing rods and airplanes.

The process requires energy but no more so than that to charge batteries, and it is not necessary to strip mine the world to get battery materials.

Facebook Spied On Private Messages Of “Conservative Right-Wing Individuals”, Then Reported To FBI For Domestic Terrorism

Source: ZeroHedge.

This is a bigger story than it seems in that it describes how our culture has become “post Constitutional.”

A Facebook employee surveilled platform users to provide anonymized comments to the FBI, which then used the comments to secure warrants that enabled Facebook to divulge personal identifiable data and account details. We are perhaps fortunate that the project turned out to be a waste of time, according to the FBI, but the compromise of civil rights — particularly the 1st Amendment — remains unsettling.

Breaking News: MAGA-Republican candidate for Pennsylvania Governor is an Anti-Semite.

This election-denying jackass has nothing to offer so he plays THIS card? Wow! Thanks Trump. And I mean that most sincerely. Leave it to deplorable MAGA-Republican primary voters to nominate this fellow instead of a Republican with a fighting chance to win.

This is how real journalism is done. Respectful, factual and quietly eviscerating. Watch it. Tapper uses Mastriano’s attack on his opponent and his opponent’s children for attending a Jewish parochial school as a lead it to covering Mastriano’s close association with the founder of the notorious antisemite site – GAB.

Durham: DONE

Paywalled, I’m sure. But the gist is that Durham secured one indictment (with acquittal), one upcoming trial and one plea deal.

“Over the course of his inquiry, Mr. Durham has developed cases against two people accused of lying to the F.B.I. in relation to outside efforts to investigate purported Trump-Russia ties, but he has not charged any conspiracy or put any high-level officials on trial. The recent developments suggest that the chances of any more indictments are remote.”

Nothing more to see here.
