Since the Pilot appears to have forgotten, here’s a decade old commentary on Earth Day. The day shouldn’t pass without comment.

Excess testing capacity?
It turns out that we do have the testing capacity for Phase 1, but states are only using 1/3 of our capacity. The inadequate rate of testing turns out to be a local failure due to shortages of testing manpower, PPEs and supplies, and not a lack of testing capacity deployed by the Federal government and private sector.
A Lesson to be learned
DO NOT single source. Especially if the single source is government. And do not put the FDA in charge of selecting suppliers.
About that November warning
No such report ever existed. ABC simply made it up to harm Trump.
The first mention in an intelligence briefing of a new virus in China was in early January, and that was not a threat warning for spread to the US.
Continuity
John and Len, I have upgraded your status to Administrator so you can take over this forum in the event I am unable to continue. (I’m still OK, but I don’t want to have to mess with this if later on I am not.)
So, now Covid-19 is racist
The topic of racial differences in health matters has been raised here before, and I find it disturbing that instead of acknowledging those genetic differences and adjusting treatment, and preventive measures, accordingly the Guardian looks for racial bias to explain the more severe consequences of Vovid-19 infections among Black men.
How many will we let the FDA kill?
Now that the cost imn lives is clearly visible, will we finally take the steps needed to set the market free to save us?
Is it time to nuke China?
OK, maybe not nuke, but there have to be consequences.
No cite, heard on Bartiromo this morning. China was quietly buying up the world supply of PPEs in the month prior to coming forward with the pandemic potential of Covid-19, or as I prefer, the Lying, Murderous Chinese virus.
What if…
Here is a pretty complete timeline of the testing fiasco.
So, what if, on January 1st, the FDA had been disbanded and its functions left to the private sector with all its competing companies and individuals, all striving to be the nation’s hero and get rich in the process?
A lifelong bureaucrat sees the light
Fauci, Private Sector is the answer
At least he gives credit where credit is due.
