This is CHILLING

The National Right to Life (or more accurately Anti-Choice Coalition) says that the 10 year old CHILD, a victim of rape, should have been FORCED to carry the pregnancy to term.

““She would have had the baby, and as many women who have had babies as a result of rape, we would hope that she would understand the reason and ultimately the benefit of having the child,” Bopp said in a phone interview on Thursday.”

A 10 year old CHILD is NOT a woman. What benefit would there be to her? She’s he age where children should be playing with baby DOLLS, not responsible for the life of a child.

The morality of this MAN’S opinion and the law he has authored for other states to enact, is not moral at all.

What is a Church?

According to the IRS, apparently the Family Research Council is. Regardless of what political actions some of their “offshoots” perform.

It seems to be a dodge to protect the identity of donors and just another way around laws that are supposed to keep dark money out of politics. But as we know, dark money is like water; it finds a way to get where it wants (BOTH parties, by the way).

The basis for today’s populist conservatism.

“To really understand the GOP’s hard-right turn, look to L. Brent Bozell Jr.”

An interesting look at how we got where we are today with “conservatism”.

Often times, we on this forum have pointed to certain times and individuals who have started the downward spiral of the modern GOP and ideas embraced by today’s “conservatives”. Newt Gingrich gets a lot of props due to the “Contract with America” when he was Speaker.

This well written piece goes back even further and explains who and how we got where we are today.

Tired of a founding principle?

Someone on this forum has said numerous times that there should be some sort of “test” for voters. I contend that it should be candidates that should be tested. On the Constitution they swear an oath to support and defend. An elected representative, regardless of what district he or she represents, that states that the church should be directing the government, should be disqualified from running for office.

And the question arises for Rep. Boebert, “Which church?”

For those of you who have been supportive of recent SCOTUS decisions that are chipping away at the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment and the Separation of Church and State, need to pay close attention. A potential theocratic government is on the horizon, unless people pay attention and stand firm against it. – IMO

Roe Overturned

The link contains the opinion. Looks like Don wrote it.

I find it interesting that in one decision, the court ruled that states cannot make their own rules and in the next they returned the question of abortion to the states. I am having a difficult time weighing these differences.

They decision stated that abortion is not a right that is in the Constitution. Neither is the right to ANY medical care. Based on what I read, states can now determine that treatment for cancers and other diseases can be denied. That may be a touch hyperbolic, but still…

The Bulwark: If Trump Wasn’t Lying, That’s Worse

“A delusional president is far more dangerous than a mendacious one.”

Will Saletan presents 5 exhibits from yesterday’s hearing with the conclusion that if TFG truly believed the lies he and his minions were presenting to the American people, he is delusional and not fit for office.

His close is something that all should consider.

Detached from realityLost contactNo interest in facts.

We can’t have a president who thinks—or doesn’t think—this way. We can’t put the world’s most powerful armed forces and nuclear arsenal back in the hands of a man who believes, no matter what, that he has the mandate of the people—and is willing to use violence to stay in power. In the Oval Office, a madman is far more dangerous than a liar.” (Emphasis added.)

Based on the opening paragraphs, a historical recollection of Nixon and his actions, perhaps DJT learned a lesson about ADMITTING he is lying.

DHS watchdog says Trump’s agency appears to have altered report on Russian interference in 2020 election in part because of politics

https://www.cnn.com/2022/05/03/politics/donald-trump-russian-interference-election-politics/index.html

“The April 26 Homeland Security inspector general’s assessment provides a damning look at the way DHS’ Office of Intelligence and Analysis dealt with intelligence related to Russia’s efforts to interfere in the US, stating the department had deviated from its standard procedures in modifying assessments related to Moscow’s targeting of the 2020 presidential election.”

“The IG also followed up on a July 2020 meeting mentioned by the whistleblower, who claimed Wolf had asked for the product to be held because “‘it made the President look bad.'”

Right. No issue with Russia to be concerned with.
