Youngkin, UVa COVID Policy on a Collision Course

Source: Bacon’s Rebellion.

The story leads with: “Governor-elect Glenn Youngkin and Attorney General-elect Jason Miyares announced today their intention to challenge Biden-administration vaccine mandates through the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, OSHA, and Head Start.”

Thank goodness. There are no good arguments for Covid vaccine mandates.

Political violence and Trump’s reactions on January 6, 2021

Source: American Thinker.

Memes are a lousy way to understand current events. There is a particular meme that illustrates the problem. It is the narrative that President Trump unleashed an angry mob to attack the Capitol on J6, then did nothing to stop the riot, ignoring all entreaties to do so.

I have seen conspiracy theories that claim Covid-19 is really influenza or the common cold, just given a special name so as to cook up a political takeover of all of humanity. The idea seems both farfetched and not-farfetched to me. The essay at the link puts some of those conspiracy theories out of their misery.

White House Remarks on Jan. 6

Kam and Joe demonstrated everything wrong with the Democratic Party in their presentation: Rhetoric, fallacy, drama, seizure.

“No question, now, what had happened to the faces of the pigs. The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.” (George Orwell, Animal Farm.)

Today, as it happens, is the religious holiday of Epiphany. I take it these politicians want to replace the commemoration with one of their own.

The Pfizer Inoculations For COVID-19 โ€“ More Harm Than Good

Source: Canadian Covid Care Alliance.

Whenever I post any comment or story — no matter how innocuous or carefully contextualized — that suggests Covid vaccines may cause harm, someone is bound to say it is a proven fact that the vaccines are safe and effective. A member of the Jump-Up-And-Down-I’m-Right-Read-My-Bloody-Lips set will even rehearse the canard that there is “no evidence” that Covid vaccines cause harm. It is to reach, if possible, people of such a mind set that I share the link at the top of this post.

Itโ€™s a Bad Time for Liberals

Source: National Review.

Conservatism Inc. has been re-evaluating itself and contemplating some sort of re-invention for many months. I don’t know why, exactly. The essays, however, have been numerous — and mainly too boring to share.

The brief note at the link is representative of a theme: That conservatives are really, really, “classical liberals.”
