Breifly, the CO2 Coalition, a climate skeptic organization objects to the NSTA’s stance on teaching climate science in schools. They paid for a booth at the NSTA convention to present their arguments to science TEACHERS, not students.
The NSTA ejected them to avoid having science TEACHERS exposed to a different opinion.
Sadly, it would appear that a science teaching organization has no clue how science works.
Sadly?
I don’t think so. Crackpots such as people touting the benefits of more and more CO2 in the atmosphere are already sucking up too much of the oxygen in the room. There are enough manifestations of Brandolini’s Law and enough dishonesty at play without a reputable science organization lending its good name to the “debate.” Next you will be telling us that the International Tobacco Growers Association should be allowed a booth to promote the health benefits of tobacco smoking. Just to be fair.

Fair?
The CO2 Coalition’s objections to the NSTA’s policy statement are valid, regardless of the topic.
Consensus is not science, and if science teacher don’t know that they have no business teaching science.

No they are not. See how easy that is. Opinions are a dime a dozen.
The distinction between teaching scientific consensus and teaching science that is at the core of their self-congratulatory critique of science education is bogus.

Again, this display was intended for TEACHERS, not students.
Is it your contention that teachers cannot be exposed to the scientific method?
Perhaps you did not see the link to the CO2 Coalitions paper detailing their objections,

The CO2 Coalition is not honest about itself. It says it is not political but do not disclose the fact that they are essentially a Koch Brothers front organization. They are not objective. They are just some more fossil fuel funded smoke blowers cherry-picking and distorting facts.
Their charges against the pedagogy of the NSTA are bullshit. It DOES want to teach the scientific method. It DOES want to impart critical thinking skills.

If you’re going to rely on Ad hominem at lease provide proof.
Or tell us where they are wrong.
Even if they received support from the remaining Koch brother that would not invalidate a correct analysis.

“Or as Einstein put it . . .”
We are not discussing basic theory of the sort Einstein was working on. His aphorism does not apply to the kind of modeling that is the essence of climate science. When a model is wrong it needs improvement and new analysis to see why. Models are not experiments. They are tools for combining underlying theories and data and are always a work in progress.

Well, if we’re going to make policy that plunges hundreds of millions of people into permanent poverty, wouldn’t you think we should rely on more than a work in progress that overstates the effect of CO2 by more than double?

I am not going to debate this silly claim again. With a lot more reason I could claim that the move to green energy is going to lift those hundreds of millions out poverty because – just like telephone infrastructure – they will get to skip the very expensive fossil fuel infrastructure and go straight to affordable, renewable sources.
As for where are they wrong, you can cite things that are not “wrong” but also are not relevant. The fact that there has been repeated climate change in the past or that the carboniferous era had a lot more CO2than we have now has zero relevance to the current climate challenges. In the same way you can cite other factors effecting this or that phenomenon in a way that is not “wrong,” does not change the role of climate change.

RE: “Models are not experiments.”
Nobody here is talking about models. You need to read the CO2 Coalition’s Challenging white paper to get on the same page as the conversation here. Here (again) is the link

I object, too. NSTA is obviously a woke organization, as the CO2 Coalition demonstrates in its Challenging white paper. NSTA exemplifies the observation that indoctrinational institutions of our society are often NGOs.

…” a woke organization,”
Couldn’t find a better word, so you whipped out the right’s new buzzword for any and all things they don’t like or disagree with.
Merriam Webster’s definition of WOKE: “aware of and actively attentive to important societal facts and issues (especially issues of racial and social justice)”
