Pretty clear cut on how Mr. McGinn thinks Mr. Trump could utilize the DPA to assist in the battle against COVID-19.
His closing is a good one. “COVID-19 is a rapidly evolving threat to our nation’s economic and national security. The Defense Production Act is an important tool and exactly what we need as we seek to develop additional short- and medium-term responses to this unprecedented impact on our domestic industrial base. Depending on how the Trump administration utilizes the DPA, this could be a big step forward in combatting the pandemic.”
If you’re going to change a missile production line to ventilators, better get started now.

Funny, I heard the President say today that the US wasn’t a postal clerk and thought; doesn’t USPS mean we are?

What makes you say so?

Gee, John, maybe we can save the 1st ventilator built by a missile tech with little or no training time for you. Engineers are fungible, eh?

RE: ” Engineers are fungible, eh?”
Well, having known a few engineers who worked in missile production facilities, I’d be happy to use any ventilator they produced.
I thought maybe you had something positive or useful to say. Guess I was wrong: You were just posting for cheap thrills.

Ask them how long it took to bring the line up to full rate. Like you, I have known Raytheon and Abbott engineers. Missile production is easier than medical equipment.
