Another significant Trump LIE

https://www.cnn.com/2019/09/30/politics/donald-trump-inspector-general-whistleblower-complaint-conspiracy-fact-check/index.html

This is a good example of how Trump pollutes our political system with outright LIES. In this case, the LIE is that the “deep state” changed whistle blower rules to suddenly allow people without first hand knowledge to blow the whistle. Sorry, Mr. Trump – BUZZZ! False.

The Intelligence Community IG had to go on record to refute this LIE. Of course, Trump does not care and will continue to repeat ANY LIE at every opportunity. Dummies will believe him because they really, really want to.

It is worth noting that this particular LIE was generated on The Federalist web site – a site frequently relied on and linked to by those here who are DESPERATE to exonerate Trump’s criminal behavior.

  1. As it often does, CNN is reporting fake news. You apparently are falling for it.

    Here’s the fake part:

“The [Federalist] article claims that ‘between May 2018 and August 2019, the intelligence community secretly eliminated a requirement that whistleblowers provide direct, first-hand knowledge of alleged wrongdoings.’

    “Facts First: This is false…”

No, it isn’t false. It is factually true that the IC revised the form, just as the Federalist says it did. The Federalist, however, never claimed that the revision changed “the rules on who can submit a whistleblower complaint.” It only claimed that the revision “raises questions about the intelligence community’s behavior” with respect to the incident at hand.

CNN pretends that the Federalist is promoting conspiracy theories, but fails to note the last paragraph in the original story:

“Reached by phone on Friday afternoon, a Director of National Intelligence official refused to comment on any questions about the secret revision to the whistleblower form, including when it was revised to eliminate the requirement of first-hand knowledge and for what reason.”

In context, President Trump’s tweet, “Who changed the long standing whistleblower rules just before submittal of the fake whistleblower report?” is entirely legitimate.

    1. Idiotic response.
      1. Trump LIED.
      2. The LIE originated with The Federalist. Changing a form without changing ANY rule, law or policy is a complete non-story. Only reason it was published was to fool the stupid and blow smoke for Trump.

You apparently did not understand the last paragraph you quoted. It confirms how dishonest and misleading this article is by deliberately leaving the idea that there WAS a secret revision (there wasn’t) and that the policy was changed (it was not). Classic sophist garbage.

Conclusion – Trust NOTHING you see on The Federalist.

Are you saying the form was not revised?

        1. Of course the form was revised. A place was added to tick if the Whistleblower had first hand knowledge of the matters being revealed.

That was NOT a “secret revision” and it did NOT “eliminate the requirement of first-hand knowledge” – there was no such requirement to eliminate.

That paragraph you quoted proves my point unequivocally – The Federalist is not honest nor reliable. They are Stalinist-style propagandists with zero respect for the truth.

Good. At least you can see that much. Now for the hard part where both you and CNN go off the rails.

The requirement was on the form itself. It didn’t exist beyond the form (as we have subsequently learned). Revising the form removed the requirement.

That’s what the Federalist was referring to. In fact, the Federalist made this clear in the last paragraph to its story where it noted that the reason for changing the form was unknown.

The problem here is that you and CNN are making inferences you can’t prove and accusing others of lying when in fact they did not.

This paragraph makes no sense. Forms do not create the law, the policy, the rules. This form was for gathering information about the complaint. Adding a field to indicate first hand knowledge did NOT remove a non-existing requirement. Frankly, that does not make any sense.

The Federalist and Trump were out to bamboozle you. They succeeded. Trump LIED and the Federalist helped him do it.

No, they don’t. That’s the very point: No one until you and CNN assumed or alleged that revising the form was because the underlying law, policy or rules changed. You and CNN are accusing others of making assumptions and allegations they have not, in fact, made.

LOL! Maybe you are having trouble keeping up?

This discussion was triggered by Tweets from Dear Leader accusing the deep state of changing the rules to enable the Whistle Blower.

  2. Actually, it is the Federalist article that is making assumptions and allegations.

Amazing how Mr. Roberts cannot see what so many other plainly do. And in reality, he twists the facts to attempt to fit his argument. Twisting in the wind to defend the indefensible. Hope he has a good chiropractor on retainer…
