Kerry: Teen Threatens Mass Shooting. Mom Defends Punk.

I appreciate the Mom’s position and concerns, but Ms. Dougherty is right in my view. The Mom here is guilty of false compassion. The police have no choice but to take the boy away.

  1. A helicopter parent that crashed and burned?

We can try as hard as possible to try and steer our kids in the right direction, give them the tools to be better human beings, and the space to exercise their wings as they mature. It is difficult to know ALL they do. But when presented with compelling evidence of something going awry with their children, parents need to be open to the fact that their “little boy (or girl)” can do things we find abhorrent or even illegal. Parents must remain open to the fact that “little Johnny (or Jenny)” may have some darkness in him (or her). It may not be pleasant to face that fact, but it must be done.

  2. Eric Harris and Dylan Klieibold spent thousands of dollars of their parent’s money on straw purchases for their weapons used at Columbine and kept Kliebold’s garage locked so his mother would not see their bomb making projects (fortunately they sucked at bomb making) and their parents didn’t have a clue.

Makes this nitwit look a little bettter

  3. It’s easy to slam the mother in this video. And maybe she deserves it.

Here is another look at another era just a few decades back.

The school I graduated from in NY in 1964 was a small prep school. 550 from 5th-12th. Sometime in the 70’s
it hired a new football coach. He actually brought the school to a NYC championship in the earl 80’s. An incredible feat for a school that size. Alumni donations skyrocketed.

About a decade ago, it came to light with many lawsuits that the coach was a sexual predator and had been for years. He is dead now. But in depositions and testimonies that have come forth we learned that some of the earliest victims complained to parents and school administrators at the time of the rapes.

Those kids were slapped down by both parents and the headmaster. It couldn’t happen, the kids were lying, no way.

Just like Penn State, other private schools, and of course the ongoing saga of the Catholic Church.

Didn’t believe the children then in favor of unquestioned authority. Defend the children now in the face of authority.

Am I excusing the mom in the video? No. But the past wasn’t so pretty either when authority was deemed “the authority “.
