Democrats hold nation hostage

Democrats block Senate stimulus

For the second time, Senate Democrats have blocked a Senate Phase III stimulus bill they had negotiated in a reasonably bipartisan manner. Why, because Nancy Pelosi wants to pass a House version as a substitute. The House version contains dozens of things that have nothing to do with the virus response, from same day voter registration to greenhouse gas limits for air travel, to requirements for racial diversity of corporate boards. All things they could never pass on their own but Pelosi thinks she can get because she has the country over a barrel. If she can force enough small businesses to fail and cause enough hardship, she expects to get her way on these fringe issues.

A question of timing

Northam closes schools

Unless the information we have on community spread in Virginia is wrong, I have to question whether it was wise to have people burn through their time off and savings by taking kids out of school before the virus has started to spread.

I am concerned that people will feel they have to get back to work and get their kids into some kind of daycare if schools are still closed right when the virus is widespread.

An interesting result from Texas

Texas primaries result.

Texas had both a Democratic and Republican primaries. A lot of attention has been drawn to Biden’s very narrow win over Sanders, as the in the GOP primary, Trump was virtually uncontested.

But when you look at the numbers, in which there was no real need for anyone to show up for the GOP primary, Trump nonetheless got more votes than all of the Democrats who were still in the race, combined.

The GOP base is VERY motivated.
