Et Tu, National Review!

National Review columnist Andrew McCarthy reacts to the NARA letter of May 10, 2022 released by Trump supporter, John Solomon. From the article. . .

“Given that the former president was not responsibly securing the government’s most closely held intelligence, that he was trying to prevent the FBI from examining what he’d returned, that his lawyers were either misinformed about or lying about the classified information still retained at Mar-a-Lago, and that even the issuance of a grand-jury subpoena (with potential criminal penalties for noncompliance) had not succeeded in getting Trump to hand over the remaining classified information, what option short of a search warrant would have sufficed?

He also makes clear that President Biden’s limited involvement in the sorry affair was required by the provisions of the Presidential Records Act . . .

“If, as appears to be the case, it was appropriate for the FBI to conduct this review of Trump records, then the PRA mandated Biden’s approval and his review of any Trump privilege claims. As a result, there is very little upside for Trump in emphasizing Biden’s collaboration with the Justice Department.”

Not exactly “political” nor a “witch hunt.”

Once again, Trump’s legal problems are 100% his own doing.

Mitch McConnell – RINO?

So the “stable genius” who gave the GOP Dr. Mehmet “Crudités” Oz, Herschel Walker, Blake Masters and J.D. Vance thinks Mitch McConnell is a “hack.” GOP’s Trump-induced meltdown on full display. You cannot make this stuff up.

Someone around here is constantly referring to the apocryphal adage by Napoleon to the effect of “Never interfere with an enemy while he’s in the process of destroying himself,” so I will say no more.

Transparency – Be careful what you demand.

At the hearing to decide on whether to release the Mar-a-Lago affidavit Trump was represented by a lawyer who said nothing. It is one thing to demand full disclosure on Fox News. It is something else when it actually is before the court. Apparently.

Then there is this. AG William Barr was given talking points to sabotage the impact of the Mueller Report. A judge ruled that they should be disclosed. She has now been joined by a 3-0 vote on the Court of Appeals.

Filter Team Is SOP

https://tinyurl.com/3ubps5et

Trump cultists have their hair on fire about privileged documents, political intel, and the theft of passports. This story explains how the FBI deals with those concerns. As is their SOP, they have assigned a filter team to go through the materials seized. It consists of agents and other experts not assigned to the case. Materials not related to the case and any attorney-client documents are returned to the owner. In this case, there are likely national security experts to screen documents for classified information that may not be marked as such.

An example of how this works was the three passports found in one of the boxes. They were immediately returned to Trump but that did not stop him from playing his victim card.

Of course, some of you will immediately claim that the filter team is “corrupt” and will immediately run to DNC with any juicy stuff they find. It is what you people do.
