I think Tyler Cowen is correct that herd immunity theories are insufficient to sustain anti-lockdown arguments.

Covid-19: Does Sweden have herd immunity?
Source: Sebastian Rushworth M.D.
“Herd immunity” is a technical concept I can’t pretend to understand well. I am interested in the Swedish experience for a different reason: How Sweden responded to Covid-19 is how the U.S. used to respond to epidemics, but chose not to this time. In my view we should go back to the old way.

Here’s the Senate report on Hunter Biden I mentioned in a post here a couple of days ago.

Economist Tyler Cowen takes up the question of QAnon: “[I]t’s worth asking what the movement is really about…I think it’s necessary to do more than regard QAnon with either incredulity or scorn.”
This makes sense to me. I don’t have a coherent theory to offer about the nature of QAnon, but having followed Q posts for several years I’m stuck by the outright foolishness of much anti-QAnon commentary. Consequently, I am eager for more serious approaches to understanding the event that QAnon represents.
BLM’s War on the Deplorables
BLM’s Marxian trappings may not be the worst thing about it. BLM’s Marxism may be merely “a silly affectation that appeals to leftists…[L]ike wearing a beret to an art exhibit, it’s a meaningless display of ideological conformity.”

How Long Was the First Millennium?
The writer presents the evidence for the proposition that the real events of the first millennium occurred within a time span of only 300 years. It appears that our historical record repeats in sequential order stories depicting the same events from different perspectives as though they were different occurrences, thus inflating the standard chronology by about 700 years. Archeology — especially the hard data of stratigraphy — may force revisions.
Science can be like that. Earth shaking.

Today’s WSJ has a review that almost makes me want to buy the book it describes. The book recounts the history of an early computer company, started in 1959 and bankrupt 11 years later.

“Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and Oregon’s Ron Wyden on Wednesday accused a GOP colleague of essentially working as a Kremlin operative. They called Homeland Security Chairman Ron Johnson’s work a ‘disgrace,’ claimed his committee was funneling ‘Russian disinformation,’ and introduced a resolution demanding he cease. The only thing missing from this spectacle was the supporting cast: James Comey, John Brennan and Peter Strzok.
“The catalyst for these surreal claims: Mr. Johnson will soon release the findings of his investigation into the Biden family’s dealings with Ukraine.”
I didn’t know, or had forgotten, the Senate was investigating Joe Biden’s record with Ukraine. I’m looking forward to the report.
