You Don’t Know What You Know

Today’s Review & Outlook column in the Wall Street Journal reports: “CBO says in its latest monthly budget review that individual income-tax withholding and payroll tax receipts rose 5% in February from a year earlier, while income-tax refunds fell 13%. The year-over-year increase is important because we are now getting the comparative results for the time period in which tax reform has been fully implemented. Tax receipts from rising incomes appear to have offset lower receipts from the cut in tax rates and 100% business expensing. The February revenue rise outstripped even a 7.3% spending increase from a year earlier, so the deficit declined by $12 billion in the month.”

NRO: Medicare-for-All’s Bitter Pill

“Obamacare failed. There is no denying it anymore. The supposed ‘signature achievement’ of the 44th president isn’t just opposed by Republicans. The Affordable Care Act has now been jilted also by many Democrats, who, like so modern-day Lotharios, have abandoned their once-burning ardor for state insurance exchanges to pursue ‘single-payer’ health care.”

Heritage Foundation: Election Fraud Cases from Across the United States

“The Heritage Foundation’s Election Fraud Database presents a sampling of proven instances of election fraud from across the country. This database is not an exhaustive or comprehensive list, but is intended to demonstrate the many ways in which fraud is committed. Preventing, deterring, and prosecuting election fraud is essential to protecting the integrity of our voting process.”

PJM: Border Emergency? What Border Emergency?

You needn’t read Michael Walsh’s piece, especially if you are inclined to think that rational arguments in favor of border-wall funding are shopworn or obtuse.

I bring it up only to mention that we seem headed for another government shutdown over wall funding. As a Trump supporter, I view the prospect with optimism: If our last shutdown was a dry run, the next one should be positively illuminating. Even “Wacky Nut Job @AnnCoulter” might approve.

AOC Nods

“Capitalism is an ideology of capital – the most important thing is the concentration of capital and to seek and maximize profit…so to me capitalism is irredeemable.”

(I found the quotation at ZeroHedge, but it is widely reported elsewhere.)

MSN: It Exists: DOJ Finds Letter Ordering Scrutiny of Uranium One, Hillary Clinton

This should prove interesting. Best line in the reporting: “Democrats, meanwhile, argue it’s evidence of the Trump administration weaponizing law enforcement to target its political rivals.”

I find it hard to believe that launching an investigation amounts to “weaponizing law enforcement.” If that’s true, then secret surveillance of the Trump campaign must have been weaponizing law enforcement, too. But I jest.

Let’s see what Huber has to say about Uranium One and Hillary Clinton.
