Within hours of the new name for the Washington Football team’s new name, the “Commanders” being announced, the team was universally referred to on the Internet as the Washington Commies.

No argument. However, it is going to take those women who testified at the roundtable yesterday to force him to be gone. Then maybe, JUST maybe, the WFT (or WTF) will be able to change thier stripes.
I guess the issue is that the team name “Redskins” is racist in some way. Well, maybe so.
There is no good argument for racism, but I wish we could be more tolerant of ugly things we don’t like.*
I think the difference between the Reskins’ name being racist and the Redskins’ name not being racist is mostly just the investment we make in worrying about it.

If Native Americans believe it is racist, who are you to say it isn’t?
I am one who does not pretend to decide what a Native American thinks and if a Native American thinks something is racist and offending, I am one who would support that person.
You may be a nobody, but you tend to claims superiority in knowledge of things you have only OPINIONS on.
So the approval of the name at its inception by head coach William Henry Lone Star Dietz (native american) and the vast majority of native americans who publicly stated they either had no problem or aapproved of the name since then don’t count as proof it isn’t racist? Only a few “woke” outcasts make it so? That is the problem, liberals allow a few whiners to control the conversation and claim its the real “history”.

You got a cite for that, or are you just blowing your usual “woke” smoke?
Did you know that during the 50s, the Cincinnati Reds asked to be called the “Red Stockings” (the team’s original name), presumably to avoid association with Communism?
Washington Football should just embrace it–put the hammer and sickle on their helmets. You have to admit, it’s a cool symbol.
In all seriousness, I agree. “Commanders” is lame. They had years to come up with this and this is the best they could do? As always, go Ravens.
DraftKings had one of their free polls to take a shot at what the team name would be. I chose correctly and won 5 cents. (To be paid by a Buffalo Head Nickel.)
Ho hum at best. They will always be the Redskins.

And they will always be Ho Hum, regardless of the team moniker.

Why of course since you refuse to do your own research but instead blow the true smoke. https://www.google.com/amp/s/profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2019/08/10/poll-of-native-americans-view-of-redskins-name-finds-proud-most-common-answer/amp/
And that isn’t even your darlings the WaPo poll that found over 9 of 10 approved. https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/new-poll-finds-9-in-10-native-americans-arent-offended-by-redskins-name/2016/05/18/3ea11cfa-161a-11e6-924d-838753295f9a_story.html
