I suspect most Americans are not well informed about continuity of government plans that are already in place. This Newsweek piece serves an educational purpose in that context.
Still, I can’t help noting an ambiguity. That is, the existing plans as described in the article could, conceivably, be implemented without public announcement. Martial Law could be in effect without anybody noticing.
I doubt such a wild improbability has occurred, but you never know. Have fun.

I haven’t read his books. I did see “Zorba the Greek” with Anthony Quinn, and still to this day think it is one of my favorite movies.
In the flick is a line I especially love.
Zorba is asked by his British companion if he was ever married.
The answer, paraphrased a bit, was “yes, the wife, the children…the full catastrophe.”

Two of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan books told the story of the Capitol being hit by a kamikaze 747 during the State of the Union Address.
The books never disclosed Ryan’s political party, but if I were to hazard a guess, I would say he was a Republican (in the old school sense, not T**** sense).
Like those on the left who long for a Martin Sheen presidency (West Wing), if a cataclysmic event were to decapitate out government, I’d want Jack Ryan to be the “Designated Survivor”.
And I guess the Top Secret plans aren’t so top secret any more. 😇
