Who saw this coming?

The first CIVIL suit about the events of January 6th has been filed. The one thing I find interesting about this is: “If it proceeds, it would mean the former President and others would be subject to discovery and depositions, potentially exposing details and evidence that weren’t released during the Senate impeachment trial.”

The CNN story did not say what court the suit was filed in, but according to the Hill, it is in DC Federal District Court. As Thompson filed the suit in his personal capacity, maybe it should have been filed in Mississippi. But there is a better chance of it being heard in DC.

It will be interesting to see if the judge says that T****, Giuliani, et.al,, are in any way responsible for the riot. I could see the former President being released from the suit. But Giuliani (and if added Mo Brooks and DJTJ, among the other speakers that day) could be facing pretty severe civil penalties.

And in a civil case, the preponderance of the evidence is all that is needed. Unlike a criminal charge. I guess Magic Mitch deserves a big THANKS for mentioning civil remedies in his post-acquittal speech

    1. Thankfully that is true: it will add to the preponderance of misdeeds identified by the ex/failed President.

This in only the first shoe (of the centipede) that will be dropping on his lying corrupt ass…

    2. Wonder what you are implying? Are you following the Ron Johnson school of “what did the Speaker know and when did she know it”? Or are you just making stuff up again to begin your conspiratorial discussion?

  1. This is frivolous beyond comprehension as any coordinated effort can’t be proved. What is striking is Thompson said “this kind of rioting can’t go on” but HE is guilty of urging and cheering on rioting for 4 years. Civil rights violation? Oh please. Trump should sue for malicious prosecution and harassment.

    1. “beyond comprehension“ ?

A perpetual state of many in the cult. Trump will probably sue and countersue. It is his ONLY recourse in the face of actual facts….SMH.

      1. Your constant ignorant “cult” accusations quite frankly expose a lack of intelligence in addition to being just a simple hater.

    2. …” any coordinated effort can’t be proved”

Not necessary. But the incitement, which the House Mangers proved beyond Mitch McConnell’s reasonable doubt, has already been done once.

The rioting you are referring to were peaceful protests where some bad apples, including infiltrators from far right wing groups, caused the looting, etc. you are so concerned about. January 6th was a fair number of T**** supporters attempting to subvert the democratic process through violence.

You keep trying to compare the two, but there is no legitimate comparison.

    3. “HE is guilty of urging and cheering on rioting for 4 years.”

      That is totally false.
You are either a liar or too stupid to recognize obvious lies being fed to you.

Re: “Civil rights violation? Oh please. ”

The 1871 Ku Klux Klan Act was passed to punish malicious white supremacist militias interfering with and intimidating Congress. It is entirely appropriate to sue malicious white supremacist militias interfering with the Congress as this law provides.

  2. Any investigation will be centered on the same old saw: what did the president know and when did he know it.

Under oath, the ex-president can help the nation understand how we got from Benghazi to the Capitol.

How we went from foreign terrorist attacks to domestic ones in a matter of a few recent years.

Is there any difference among Proud Boys, Oathkeepers, 3%ers, and other right wing gangs and ISIS jihadists?
