  1. They interviewed some woman who went off her nut in a store screaming that Covid was all a hoax and doing some minor devastation. Three weeks. She had gone on the QAnon site for just 3 weeks and said she went from Suzie Homemaker to Madame Defarge.

These insurgents at the Capitol were serious. Pence missed his end by minutes. They would have killed him and all Democrats and half the Republicans.

There are nutcase extremists on both ends of the spectrum, what is crazy is to believe that they represent any significant part of those who oppose you.

Neither Pence nor any other Congress critters were in any real danger. Even if there were a handful there who would actually harm them. there were thousands of other there who would not allow it.

    1. Sure there are crazies up and down the spectrum. But THESE crazies are lead by the former President and MANY members of Congress.

“Neither Pence nor any other Congress critters were in any real danger. Even if there were a handful there who would actually harm them. there were thousands of other there who would not allow it.”

Bullshit. Tell that to the dozens of cops hospitalized and the survivors of the dead. Not only do you not have ANY evidence to support such a benevolent opinion, what you are saying is contrary to how lynch mobs act once they get going.

And by the way, your choosing to refer to our Representatives in Congress who were targeted for violence as “critters” is very telling. There is nothing light-hearted about these events that makes such flippancy funny or acceptable.

      1. Ridiculous.

You could as easily apply your lynch mob mentality to society as a whole.

But that isn’t how it works, The insane few are restrained by the sane majority, or we would be lynching people every day.

        1. You really seem to have a hard time dealing with the fact that some of your so-called “trespassers” were looking to kill OUR elected representatives in Congress, regardless of party affiliation, and to overthrow the results of a free and fair election at the behest of T****. The sane majority stayed outside of the building protesting properly. Those that entered or attempted to enter the Capitol were looking for blood.

It seems you are showing disdain for the Constitutional order that only falls in to your good graces if you agree with it 100%.

        2. One of us is ridiculous. A mob of violent people with various weapons, cinch ties and ropes chanting “Hang Pence” and rampaging through the Capitol assaulting police officers and trampling people is not a town hall meeting where cooler heads MIGHT prevail. It is a lynch mob. Mike Pence was in enough fear of that lynch mob that HE was the one that stopped the National Guard from being held back.

Your comparing a rampaging lynch mob with blood running high and people being killed with society as a whole is patently ridiculous.

And as you make excuses for these dangerous criminals and minimize their deadly behavior one cannot help but remember how you justified the police killing of a black man selling cigarettes, a black child playing with a toy gun and lots of other similar atrocities. All with the same message – The law is to be obeyed. You were loud and clear on those occasions. Not on this one. What is up with that? Never mind, it is pretty clear what is up with that.

    2. Sounds like you’ve joined the “lets move on” crowd. “No danger”, “few crazies” nothing to see here.

You are living in an alternate reality that could lead to anarchy left unpunished. The rule of law must be applied to its fullest extent, including the prime instigator.

        1. I also have a sinking feeling that deep down you WISH it had been leftist protesters that did the storming so you could condemn the entire Democratic party.

Yeah, I said it and I’ll keep saying it until you prove me wrong.

        2. What makes you think there were any clear thinking individuals that would have stopped that crazed mob of gangs working for Trump. His “stand by” crowd that he recruited during the debate.

15 police in the hospital, 150 injured, one dead. When would cooler heads have prevailed. They effectively shoved a woman through the broken glass to get into the chamber so she would get shot or killed first. The guns were visible and pointing. Need a martyr don’t you?

What the hell do you think they went to the Capitol for? Just to chant slogans on the grounds? With climbing gear, zip ties, bear spray, tasers, helmets, body armor?

How many “cooler heads” used to prevail in our lynching history. You know when the town turned out, women and children with picnic baskets, and photographers recording their smiles while the victim was tortured to death. You think this was any different mentality?

We now know there were no Antifa. It was all planned and executed by and for Trump.

You can’t rewrite history yet. That will come later by the time right wing nuts roll in the lies and conspiracies. See posts on this thread for the samples.

          1. A lot of projection going on here.

For most of even those who followed the leaders into the capitol, taking a selfie in a Congressman’s chair is about the extent of their crazy.

These aren’t full time rioters like Antifa, these are business owners and craftsmen who were there to support a President they admired, whether you do or not.

            Like

          2. Jim Jones had a lot of admirers also. And curiously a Congressman was killed by them.

Sorry to see some decent folks bamboozled so easily. But then 5 years of lies will take a hold on the grievance crowd looking for affirmation and uniformity.

No need to be ashamed, just aware. Reality does take precedence over time. For most, anyway.

Meanwhile, petitioners of the government don’t bring climbing gear and weapons to support their president. When Trump fans learn that simple truism, we can continue this grand 240 year experiment in self government.

Until then, however, we will undoubtedly endure conspiracies and violence.

Yet, there is that undercurrent of autocracy that appeals to many. Particularly those that are afraid of Americans voting in free and fair elections. At some point in the future, this concept of strongman rule will coalesce around a man smarter than the ex-president.

            IMHO

I never said or even implied that either side’s extremists represent a significant portion of the population in general.

As far as your tacit approval of what happened on 1/6, keep in mind that if they found out that you said T**** should resign and Pence handle the transition, you would be on their list of targets.

And the thousands that would not allow it were OUTSIDE the building. And even then there were quite a few who didn’t make it in were chanting “Hang Mike Pence!”

There was no real danger? Absolutely unbelievable that a sane man would say that. And if that were really true, why weren’t Cruz, Hawley and McCarthy, et al, in the halls welcoming the rioters? Right. No real danger.

  3. RE: “For those of you who poo-pooed the insurrection as just another protest; this coverage puts the big lie to your thoughts.”

Nope. There was no insurrection, as the arrest records from Jan. 6 clearly show.

I view the NYT piece as propaganda supporting the witch hunt against Trump supporters. Harsh words and extreme ideas are easy to ridicule, but in the end they are merely words and ideas. Anyone who thinks QAnon is fomenting a revolution is as guilty of spinning conspiracy theories as the most unhinged of the “anons.”

For what it is worth, the Welcome message at the top of the Q Research board on 8kun (the headquarters of all things Q on the Internet) reads:

“We are researchers who deal in open-source information, reasoned argument, and dank memes. We do battle in the sphere of ideas and ideas only. We neither need nor condone the use of force in our work here.”

Q himself hasn’t posted a single message since Dec. 8.

And ‘Q’ is ashamed of what he has wrought. That is why he has gone silent.

Propaganda? Laughable assessment of SOME T**** supporters. I am reminded of what Bill Maher has recommended concerning those supporters. You can’t hate them. You can only try to get them to see reason.

“We neither need nor condone the use of force in our work here.”

That would carry some weight if they backed it up with action. But they get their clicks, their ad revenue, and sit sipping martini’s at lunch every day getting fat off the gullibility of SOME T**** supporters. I would not be surprised if they are sitting in their basements, bragging off line to the shitstorm they have fomented.

Your post shows that you are lost to any kind of reason wrt the actions on Jan 6, 2021. And that your tacit support of it, or at a minimum, defense of it, is very, very telling.

The low hanging fruit arrests don’t call it insurrection. The evidence for that is going to take some time to bear fruit. When it does, I hope you are honest enough with yourself to say it is true.

But your track record tells us otherwise and you will refer to it as some sort of conspiracy to attack T**** supporters. Oh, wait. You already did that.

Just some “trespassers,” I suppose. LOL!
A bi-partisan majority of the House does not see it that way.
      And neither does the law.

      https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/2383

Everyone who entered the Capitol illegally as a part of this death-dealing mob has committed this crime. Those on the outside who cheered them on have committed this crime. About 400 case files have been opened – so far – based on the prima facie crimes in evidence already. Final charges will be leveled later.

You can pretend nothing much happened but hundreds of these criminals are soon going to be wishing that they had never heard of Donald Trump. Fortunately, a lot of them are very, very stupid and have left incriminating evidence all over the internet.

“For what it is worth . . .”
That would NOTHING. Q trying to cover his ass. A little too late for that.

  4. How well I learned last summer that burning down a business is a peaceful protest. But now I hear that gathering peaceably and patriotically around the capitol is the end of the world.

I worry that Trump’s people still don’t understand the Left’s genius with agitprop. You have to be completely un-bothered by reality to be a good Bolshevik. You just say and do anything that might sway the uninformed. Look, an insurrection!!! Look, a riot!!!! CNN reports this nonsense 1 million times and and tries thereby to rewrite history. All utter nonsense. Pernicious nonsense..

I don’t mean to leave out the Nazis, they were also brilliant at agitprop…Kristallnacht used a small provocation, told a million lies, and unleashed a massive attack against the Jews. Events near the Capitol are sometimes described as an unprecedented event in world history, when in reality it was as close to nothing as you can get.. Thank God those Antifa forces showed up in time, and friendly cops on the inside opened the doors.

I particularly like Nancy Pelosi’s description of the event as being very similar to Gen. Patton leading his tank divisions across Europe. The question is, how many people do we have left who can recognize Nancy’s reckless absurdity? (Does Nancy recognize her absurdity? Yes, I think she’s a good Bolshevik, fully aware how dumbed-down the schools are, and eager to take advantage of widespread ignorance.)

Not many, judging from the post itself and the commentary. AT had a good article today on the difference between rhetoric, logic and grammar (R. Lopez). This very thread shows that too many people assume rhetoric is sufficient to make their views known. The point will be lost on those people, because they themselves are lost.

    2. Yes, that is in line with my thoughts on the blatant rhetoric spewed by the left wing, those lefties in this forum and their mass media accomplices. The shouting of nonsensical rhetoric trying to make lies or spin into a truth hurts my ears and is not comment worthy with the exception of a response of (expletive).

Well, Bruce, if that is true then you would make a great Bolshevik. Let’s see, you dutifully spread the racist lie that President Obama is not really an American. And, let’s not forget Pizza-gate and the various wacky Qanon conspiracy theories about hidden cabals of pedophiles ruling the world. And now this . . .

“But now I hear that gathering peaceably and patriotically around the capitol is the end of the world”

That lynch mob rampaging through the Capitol trying to overthrow the Constitution were not behaving “peacefully” and most certainly not “patriotically. The opposite in fact.

      1. “Lynch mob rampaging through the capital trying to overthrow the constitution..” A prime example of left wing alarmist rhetoric. Were they armed? Did they have a plan to overthrow anything? Were they really true insurrectionists intent on overthrowing a government or just angry people that went too far. My take is the latter.

        1. “Were they armed?” Yes. Pipe bombs, guns, various blunt instruments, bear spray, flash bangs, cinch ties, lynching rope.

“Did they have plan to overthrow anything?” Yes. The peaceful transfer of power by election as the Constitution ordains.

Were they really “true insurrectionists” . . . or just angry. . . ?” Both. Obviously.

Read the law on insurrection. These crimes fit it to a tee.

        2. “Were they armed?”

Yes. Ask the cops that wee beaten with flagpoles, fire extinguishers and hockey sticks. Among other things

“Did they have a plan to overthrow anything? ”

Yes. Changing the outcome of an election by forcing those who certify it to change the outcome was their plan. If you didn’t see that, you weren’t living in the real world.

“Were they really true insurrectionists intent on overthrowing a government or just angry people that went too far”.

Calling them anger that went to far is akin to calling them trespassers. Chanting things like “Hang Mike Pence” and asking repeatedly “Where is Nancy?” is not rhetoric alone. It is ACTION to murder the current VP and the Speaker of the House.

Not holding those accountable for criminal acts nor those who support and defend criminal acts is criminal in itself.

If you wanted all of the “ANTIFA” protesters this summer locked up, you cannot, with a clear conscience give the angry mob, nor its accomplices a free pass. Unless of course you are a hypocrite. Oh, wait. YOU ARE!

    4. …” burning down a business is a peaceful protest”…

Every bit of the violence was condemn on this board. But you overlook the point that the FBI determines that some of the violence was perpetrated by right-wing agitators sent to give racial and social justice protests a black eye.

“You have to be completely un-bothered by reality to be a good Bolshevik”

Yes comrade. You are an EXCELLANT Bolshevik as you have been perpetrating a lack of reality for years. Paul detailed it. I need not add more.

…”in reality it was as close to nothing as you can get,”

So an attack on the seat of our government by a mob of right-wing, anti-Semitic, racists in an attempt to overthrow the results of a free and fair election is “as close to nothing as you can get”? That phrase makes you complicit in the crimes committed. It does not make you a patriot. It makes you a treasonous troll.

And your veiled attack on public education is noted, but dismissed as the usual rhetorical bullshit of a unicorn believing bigot. – IMO
