U.S. Official: ‘Leak or Accident’ at Wuhan Lab Most Likely Source of COVID-19 Pandemic

Source: PJ Media.

I posted an interesting-to-me commentary the other day on the hypothesis that the Covid-19 virus is man-made. Is the hypothesis true? I don’t know. I must also admit that — being just a lowly tech writer by trade — I am too ignorant to advance a credible opinion on this subject.

The instant news report doesn’t prove the hypothesis, either. What it does do, however, is move the discussion in the direction of a laboratory origin and away from the idea of purely natural origins.

Granted, a laboratory release of a natural virus might still reflect a purely natural origin. But by the same token, a laboratory release implies the possibility — yet to be explored — of virus engineering.

So, without espousing a conspiracy theory, I’d say the man-made hypothesis remains viable.

  1. Zootonic diseases have given us some of the deadliest plagues in history.

Lab or no lab, our pressures on the natural world will not improve this problem.

Just like people living next to forests suffer from wildfires and those near sea level risk hurricanes.

I suspect blaming a Chinese lab is political posturing, but that won’t cure the disease.

    1. I struggle to grasp the point of your comment. Does “political posturing” nullify the disclosure that “a growing body of evidence that a laboratory release from the Wuhan Institute of Virology is the most credible source of the COVID-19 outbreak”?

      1. Of course. A big selling point on the cause is calling it the China virus. And China has been attacked by Trump while at the same time he and his family have received economic favors few others have gotten.

I love that propagandist and conspiracy mongers phrase, “a growing body of evidence”. Repetition of rumors and innuendoes is hardly evidence. But it works for a decent sized minority of Americans.

True, but it sure gives those “loonies” you described earlier fodder to built their silly conspiracies with.

Trump’s extortion call to GA. Included at least 3 QAnon pieces of lunacy that even FOX won’t touch…

What are they? QAnon himself has been almost silent since the election.
