Title 18 Section 875 of the U.S. Code: “Whoever, with intent to extort from any person, firm, association, or corporation, any money or other thing of value, transmits in interstate or foreign commerce any communication containing any threat to injure the property or reputation of the addressee or of another or the reputation of a deceased person or any threat to accuse the addressee or any other person of a crime, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than two years, or both.”
Threats to Raffensperger and Germany, the attorney, by Trump are an outrage and Republicans could not care less. Listening to Trump lie, cajol, bully, beg and threaten is enough to make an American who loves his country vomit.
What’s next? A war with Iran. Martial law? How much of this seditious, presidential joke do we have to endure?
Just got to listen to the call. Wow, just WOW.
Fing unbelievable, and the GOP will shrug. And the apologists here will try to explain it away.
Yeah, obvious abuse of power and total and complete BULLSHIT!

I haven’t heard it. Do you have a link to the entire, unedited call?

The GOP Sedition Caucus has bought into this clear demonstration of criminal abuse of power and should pay the price.
The House should meet today and vote to impeach trump as there MUST be consequences for this level of lawlessness.

It wouldn’t load for me, but the WSJ has a transcript.

A couple of points,
The call was explicitly a settlement meeting, it was referred to as such twice, so Raffenberger is going to need some new attorneys, as his current ones are going to be disbarred.
Raffenberger is hiding something. There is no innocent explanation for not producing the records from Fulton county for a signature match, yet he repeatedly has refused to do so.
But, that said. I think the Democrats have succeeded in running out the clock, and whatever is being concealed will not be exposed until too late.

Trump fans just don’t get it. Never will.
Trump has just shot another person on Fifth Ave.
So how was this a settlement meeting? Settling what?
Trump is not used to dealing with a Republican with integrity. Endangered species.

The call reminded me of the wired recordings in Mafia investigations.
“So look. All I want to do is this. I just want to find 11,780 votes, which is one more than we have. Because we won the state.”
“Find”? Nice euphemism for doctoring the results, or as suggested, a “recalculation”.
And later, the threat of criminal indictment if they didn’t cooperate.
“That’s a big risk to you and to Ryan, your lawyer.”
“Rocco” Meadows in the background was a nice touch.
Hey, what good is power if you don’t abuse it?

Well, if he was on the fence about self-pardon, he just fell with a leg on each side. He’ll resign and let Pence pull a Ford.

RE: “Trump tried to extort GA Secretary of State”
The allegation is insane.

Well, there certainly is insanity here…

The president is insane.
And he should run with that as mental incompetence is gentler than criminal charges.

There won’t be any criminal charges because there was no extortion.

“… any threat to accuse the addressee or any other person of a crime…”
And so Trump did, explicitly.
“ But I mean all of this stuff is very dangerous stuff. When you talk about no criminality, I think it’s very dangerous for you to say that.”
Dangerous for Raffensperger? Why?
“ That’s a criminal, that’s a criminal offense. And you can’t let that happen. That’s a big risk to you and to Ryan, your lawyer. And that’s a big risk. But they are shredding ballots, in my opinion, based on what I’ve heard.”
Big risk? Why and how so?
Shredding ballots is Trump’s opinion based on hearsay. And threatening them because they have debunked that. That’s criminal extortion.

Fortunately the nature of his illness and incompetence won’t allow him to take that route as his only way out of prison. Can’t say I’m SAD about that.

A Republican Congressman finally says what is obviously the truth:

And yet, the “Ocean’s 11 Gangnam Style” are still dancing a jig with the Devil.
A shame, really. That call gave those Senators an escape clause.
