Testing is a False Hope

The condition of “We will use testing” to decide to relax restrictions is a security blanket of thin cloth.  Basically, we’re screwed by mathematics.  What you are about to receive is a proven fact, i.e., a truth.  If you wish to know more, it’s called Bayes Theorem on Conditional Probabilities.  After you read this, you will know what Trump’s and Northam’s advisors have ALREADY told them.

So, Awhile Back…

There was a comment discussion on “plasma therapy” and the use of survivor antibodies to kick-start a patient’s immune system.  Cool interview on, maybe CNN, with the CEO/Researcher of a bio-company.

His company mass produces antibodies in the lab.  They have a library of human antibodies and they can select a handful depending on the target virus receptors and other details, and then mass produce a cocktail of “synthetically reproduced” human antibodies for therapy.  The interviewee told of the first (possibly only) use on a doctor dying of Ebola in a rural hospital during the last outbreak.  Within an hour, the guy was up and walking.

Apparently, the injection contains a boatload of antibodies and that the immune system can determine which antibodies are actually working and begin replicating its own.

Mask or No Mask

This is an issue for several reasons.  I will only address the mechanical.  The mask is a filter.  When you wear the mask, what’s on the inside stays on the inside, and what’s on the outside stays on the outside.  That’s the hope anyway.

Now, no matter which side we are talking about, when air is drawn into the mask, particulate matter sticks to the mask.  When the air flow reverses, some particulates dislodge and enter the air again.  On the inside of the mask, this is your crap.  You breathe it out, then you breathe it back in.  But, that’s okay.  It’s your crap.  It won’t hurt you and because it’s trapped inside, more importantly, it will not hurt others.  So, if you’re sick WEAR A MASK!
