The Small Secessions of the New Civil War

I’ve been expecting this. The Russian political theorist Aleksandr Dugin predicted it years ago. More relevant to posts here in the Forum, the observed trend answers the question, “Are Republicans violent extremists more apt to use bullets than the ballot box to get their political way?” It would seem they are not.

The essay doesn’t actually mention Republicans by name, but we can infer that’s who the anti-Democrats among the secessionists really are. We can further infer that the anti-anti-Democrat propaganda against them aims to undermine Republican political activism which, as it relates to the secession of school districts, cities and counties, seems likely to produce experimental results that favor decentralized self-governance.

America is Balkanizing on a granular scale. This is the most peaceful and promising way.

How to save the world, in three easy steps.

This long video interests me for a number of reasons. One is the commentary by Dr. Malone, credited in the show notes as “the inventor of mRNA Vaccine technology.” He seems to think there is something broken in our public health bureaucracy that leads to sub-optimal decision making, and also that there are significant reports that signal potential concerns with the Covid vaccines.

Unindicted Co-Conspirators in 1/6 Cases Raise Disturbing Questions of Federal Foreknowledge

This is great. G-Men and military intelligence operatives have been infiltrating radical groups in America since the days of J. Edgar Hoover. Said infiltration is a main reason the Klu Klux Klan, for example, is a non-entity today.

The instant story suggests that the so-called “insurrection” at the Capitol on Jan. 6 may have been organized and led by Federal infiltrators, not by any grass roots radicals.

As a technical matter, a national voter registration database makes sense. Photo-ID would also be needed to validate the database records at the polling place, although an alternative might be to require registration renewal periodically.

As a Constitutional matter, creating, administering and maintaining such a database would have to be the responsibility of the states, not the federal government.

So long as the quality checks are robust and control is decentralized, the proposal sounds like a great idea to me.

Decoding The Malthusian Fallacy

I took heat yesterday for suggesting that the resources needed for the production of goods are not really finite in any practical sense. It was a ham-handed suggestion because, of course, all things are finite. If we could drink the oceans, for example, the oceans would cease to exist.

This story bears watching. It has long been theorized that the mRNA vaccines created for Covid-19 might themselves cause vascular disease. We may now be seeing evidence to support that speculation. There are also ethical questions to work through. Even if the risk of myocarditis or pericarditis is low, is it ethical to vaccinate children and young adults who, as a group, face little risk from Covid-19 as well as pose little risk to others?

A Local Mystery: Where is that National Anthem Coming From?

Almost every morning my wife and I hear a loud speaker play a short recording of the national anthem at 8:00 a.m. This has been going on for a number of years and we have often speculated about where the loud speaker might be located. We hear it in Colonial Place, one block in from the main body of the Lafayette River.
