I think this article gets a lot wrong, but I would draw attention to a couple of things it gets right:
Ukraine needs to transition the battle out of a defensive position with a strategic maneuver, said George Beebe, the director of grand strategy at the Quincy Institute for Statecraft.
“If you’re looking at this as a war of attrition, where the Russians are not actually focusing on big arrow movements on the map, but on grinding down Ukraine’s ability to bring manpower and munitions to the battle,” Beebe said, “then I think you get a different picture and the Russians may have more reason for optimism.”
Beebe also questioned whether Ukrainian troops have the capability to break through fortified Russian defenses — even with Western armor, saying Ukraine needs hundreds of those to make a difference.
The Hill is telling us — in sugarcoated terms, perhaps — that the war in Ukraine isn’t going according to U.S. plans.
Point being: If the plan isn’t working, then we should change to a better plan, preferably one that doesn’t harm as many people.

It is the consequence of “wishful thinking” by Putin.
But, sure, dead invaders is a good thing. That is the essence of war – kill your enemy until they give up. Putin started this criminal war. He thought it would be a “genius” move. His “wishful thinking” is the cause of all the horror, destruction, and bloodshed. And you people want him to triumph.

The possibility that support for Ukraine is support for fascism is not allowed.

Of course it is allowed. And I am allowed to say that anyone who actually believes that is a dupe of Russian propaganda. Probably an eager dupe because – deep in their hearts – they are authoritarians and not democrats.

Regardless, it is none of our business, and keeping it going just to bleed Russia is disgusting.

Simple solution. Putin declares victory and pulls out all his troops from the recognized Ukraine border.
He had no business there in the first place except to put Russia right up against Europe and resurrect the old empire.
Reparations will come later.
See, problem solved.

and the Ukrainian fascists move back in and slaughter the Russian speaking populace that voted to become part of Russia.
a final solution.

Your lies and distortions do not measure up to reality.
That “populace” was made up of Kremlin-backed separatists and were NEVER a majority. You can read the interview I posted this morning with the former FSO Captain for a dose of truth.

The purpose is not to “bleed Russia.” The purpose is to defend Ukraine against unprovoked aggression by giving them the help they need and ask for.
Previous American administrations (Bush and Obama) did far too little in the face of naked Russian aggression. Appeasement does not work. They should have known that. Ukraine is now paying the price for that softly, softly approach.

I wouldn’t go that far. Everything in the world is our business to some extent, but that only increases our responsibility to engage in rightful action.
RE: “keeping it going just to bleed Russia is disgusting.”
Not to mention counterproductive, as higher gas prices will soon show.

Sure, but how strange! Russian propaganda doesn’t make an assertion true or false.

What complete nonsense. Russian propaganda is CONSTANTLY asserting that their fight is against Nazis. Nazis are fascists.

So what? If Russian propaganda says the sky is blue, does that make the sky green?

So what?
The point was simple enough for even you to understand. You claimed that Russian propaganda made not claim about fascism. That was false. They HAVE claimed that Ukraine is run by Nazis and their clueless supporters parrot that claim all the time.

“a final solution.”
Leaving aside the imbecility of your prediction of a mass slaughter by Ukrainian Nazis, anyone in Donbas or Crimea who does not wish to live in Ukraine can do what they should have done years ago – move to Russia.

Funny how you are doing the projection thing. Saying that the war isn’t going to the US plans when the reality is it isn’t going to RUSSIA’S plans and hasn’t from the beginning.
AND, you say WE should change plans, when in reality it is THEY (Russia) should be changing plans.
I suggest complete withdrawal to prevent any more mass death and destruction. But that’s just me.
