I don’t see his conclusion as being profound. The penis stealing connected with gender dysphoria strikes young people while the penis stealing in the cultural accounts is in older men.
I think some myths are particular to a culture, and others spring up independently universally.
I suspect no matter where it happens, or in what culture, when a man encounters erectile dysfunction, his first response will be to claim it never happened before, and his second will be to blame a woman.

Funny, but true. Kings were never impotent, but their wives were barren.
However, here is another case of knowledge coming to light to dispute the myths. If we never looked into impotence as a medical problem to be solved, we’d still blame women.
History, uncomfortable or not, needs to be researched and understood if we are ever to move forward.
