Be Careful What You Wish For

Durham came up with zilch but you still wanted the “Biden crime family,” the FBI, and the DOJ to be publicly “investigated.” Looks like you are going to get what you want.

The face of the Republican Party is going to be Jim Jordan and James Comer and they did not hesitate to let us know what the top Republican priority is going to be. Maybe I am wrong, but I do not think that the GOP got a shellacking in the election because this is what people want Congress to be doing. But there they are with their faces hanging out spreading one baseless slander after another.

They took the opportunity of this presser to tout the 1,050 page report they issued before the election (to no avail) about FBI and DOJ politicization. 1,050 pages! Oh My! This must be serious!

Uh, no. It turns out that the actual report regurgitating “conservative” complaints about the FBI is just 43 pages. The third sentence sums it up : “The problem lies, for example, with the FBI hierarchy that spied on President Trump’s campaign and ridiculed conservative Americans.”

The rest is empty filler. Literally empty with, for example, 290 pages with nothing but a signature. And about 500 pages of letters THEY wrote to Merrick Garland and others.

Looks like we are in for some grotesque abuse of Congressional investigative powers – Benghazi on steroids. Personally, I think having people like Jordan front and center for the GOP is going to resound to the benefit of the Democrats in the next election. Bigly. So, “conservatives,” enjoy it while you can.

Here, you can read their report for yourself . . .

What a strange criticism. The letters — 77 of them — are contained in an appendix. Their presentation is perfectly normal. It is true that the letters and their signature pages occupy just under 1,000 pages of the published report, but it makes little sense to judge the quality of the report based on page counts and white space.

Durham spent years and millions of dollars investigating these worn out complaints and proved none of them. So serious allegations that cannot be substantiated are, in fact, just garbage.

It is clear that these MAGA-Republicans want to put on a show to rival the January 6th committee and will do so no matter what. Never mind that Durham proved nothing. Never mind that a Senate committee already investigated the hell out of Hunter Biden and came up with butkus. The lack of evidence will not stop them. So, enjoy the rehash of old news while you can.

My point in the post was that they are going to hurt themselves with this nonsense and not the Democrats. Their prominent players – people like Jordan, Greene, Cruz and others are singularly unattractive.

You haven’t read any of the report you share, have you? The authors are pursuing a different problem set than Durham.

RE: “My point in the post was that they are going to hurt themselves with this nonsense and not the Democrats.”

So what? Maybe they will, maybe they won’t.

Personally, I agree that the FBI appears to be broken and is in need of reform. The report presents a reasonable statement of the problem. I’m happy to see Congress do its job to develop a solution.

    1. Winning and losing politically is about expectations not just the W. Republicans dug themselves a hole with their eager predictions of a Red Wave. They will end up with a 2 or 3 seat advantage in the House – not the 40 or so they were predicting. They will end up losing a seat in the Senate. They lost governorships. They lost control of state legislatures. And all of this is the opposite of what normally happens to the outs in a mid-term year. So, yeah, they got a shellacking.

You may think that calling Pelosi a “twit” is the product of an informed mind. It isn’t. It is sheer ignorance. As a matter of fact she is one of the most successful and consequential Speakers in the history of this nation.

      1. She is a mealy mouthed, lying, pandering, power hungry, California socialist, twit and you fall for her garbage hook line and sinker. She represents one of the most dangerous cities in the US, 3rd highest homelessness in the US, among highest gas prices in the US, among highest taxes in the US, etc. What more could you wish for? Now that says tons about your “superior” intellect. (Smurk)

As noted, your post full of baseless invective against Pelosi and attacking my intellect confirms that you are not playing with a full deck.

        1. Ms. Pelosi was the most consequential Speaker EVER. You hate that she is, well, SHE. You hate that she is so much smarter than any of the idiots that you support. She was more politcally savvy than even Magic Mitch.

Face it, You would have loved her if she were in the GOP. You may disagree with her policies and politics. BUt that 80 year old woman from Berkeley would kick your hating white male ass up and down. And you cannot stand it,

      2. Democrats are fools if they don’t see a warning in this election.

Seats they have previously won by 10 to 20% were taken by 1% or less.

A 1 vote majority in the Senate and a narrow loss of the house does not make a mandate to radically change the country or make it subservient to the WEF.

Remember that the by chance the Dems had very few vulnerable seats up in the Senate, in 2024 they will have a far more challenging election

Continued partisan excesses will carry a price.

There are lessons to be learned in every election. But, the reality you seem to be struggling with is the extremely vocal message for the Republican Party. THEY are the ones not listening as evidenced by their announced top priority – payback investigations and impeachments (crimes to be decided later.)

I wish there had been some “partisan excesses” to continue. I don’t see any. You consider, I suppose, trying to forgive student debt and undoing Trump environmental policy as “partisan excesses” even though they were promised before the 2020 election was won decisively by President Biden.

I have no idea what WEF refers to nor how we are subservient to it whatever it is.

          1. And Trump could not access the laptop for his prosecutors? Barr couldn’t? Wray couldn’? They were all Trump appointees.

Your obsession with a so called Deep State is conspiratorial thinking in my view.

          2. Thanks for the link on Auten. Not sure what that has to do with the laptop.

If he did “lock it away”, you are saying that neither Barr, a Trump defender until 1/6, and Wray, a Trump appointee, could not have ordered the laptop released for investigation? Trump himself could have arranged for exposure.

I think the laptop had been so compromised by copying and even hacking that it would destroy the “case” based on innuendoes and speculation about its content.

The FBI seized the laptop after it became news because the DOJ was investigating Hunter for tax and other violations.

Sorry, but the whole theory that the Trump administration had a supposed hot potato of scathing implications on Biden’s son and possibly Joe Biden and buried it stretches credulity.

          3. They ARE payback. And the GOP ran on fixing the economy and making lives safer for all AMericans.

Going straight into investigative mode for actual political payback will cost them in 2 years when they have done nothing but investigate things that do not really require it. Tell me if Biden attempted to blackmail a foreign leader for political dirt (that NEVER existed)? Tell me how Biden stoked the fires for an attempted insurrection and prevent the peaceful transfer of power? Tell me how Biden called a secretary of a state to “find” votes?

            Idiots, all.

          4. I would agree that the GOP should do other things beyond endless investigations.

Defunding much of the Federal government would be a good start.

But the investigations are necessary too, We do need to know is Biden is compromised by the Ukraine and/or China through Hunter and James dealing with them.

The BATFE and EPA need some investigating too, but those investigations should be done in an orderly manner and not witch hunt style as Congress has done the last 4 years, and without leaks or grandstanding.

          5. “We do need to know is Biden is compromised…”

Probably not. That was Trump’s territory. Half billion investment from China in return for dropping sanctions on a company. Moscow Hotel plans he lied about. Campaign strategy for Russian intelligence. Impossible to get Chinese trademarks and copyrights for his lovely daughter. Oh let’s toss in a few billion from the Butcher of Mecca for his son-in-law as a crème brulée finish to the feast of corruption.

Not only nepotism, but “Nepotism for Big Dollars”. Now that’s worth investigating. Think Jordan and his henchman have the stones to do that…?

          6. Even were those accusations valid, they do not change the influence Hunter’s businesses have on Biden.

How much will Biden do for the Ukraine and China to keep what evidence of crimes by Hunter quiet?

Nothing will convince you otherwise, obviously.

I suggest you go to Kiev and see if you can find the servers hidden there. Find them, you have a case…maybe.

My point is that you are so upset about Biden, yet nary a twitch about Trump’s nepotism and policy deals that he personally or his family profited hugely from.

In other words, you don’t care unless it’s Democrat. That is kind of a shaky principle.

          8. I don’t need to find those servers, Zelensky certainly knows where they are, which is why we are propping up his regime when our national interests are shot to hell.

And why Biden will let China take Taiwan.

In some cases it was tight. But that they won at all was a repudiation of MAGA not conservatism. That was shown in some gains at the state levels. Deniers were the candidates shown the door.

What crimes are you talking about? What evidence do you have that there were ANY? Doing business in foreign countries is not illegal.

This is real cloud cuckoo land stuff. You seem to have a very high opinion of yourself and your intellect. This is evidence that you could hardly be more wrong in that opinion. The word “lightweight” comes to mind but that is far too generous.
