The Kremlin regime of 2022 is not even an authoritarian government but simply a group of gangsters in charge of a failed state.

Since the definition of “fascism” has been debated here, I thought the author of this article may have a better way of describing Russia today. She gives evidence of why Putin’s Russia is “simply a group of gangsters in charge of a failed state.”

  1. Long, long ago in a place not too far away…atrocities by autocrats were not even investigated or exposed until long after the tragedies. Ghengis and company had it easy.

Add this to the 19th century war style by a primitive government in Moscow. If you can’t win, destroy the country. After all it is the square km that is important to a short megalomaniac posing as a leader of a modern nation.

And this is the country we are supposed to ignore as none of our business.

What evidence is that? A snuff video of dubious validity and provenance. A couple of state propaganda actions. An exonerated dissident who said, “No to fish!” We had better Evil Empire stories during the Cold War.

Russia bashing in the U.S. looks increasingly racist to me.

  3. I’d love to say nice things about Russia, John. But I can’t think of any. Perhaps you can enlighten me. Tell me all the wonderful things Putin has done since he began his multi-terms in office. Tell me all the wonderful things Russia has invented that have improved life on earth. The only things I can think of are the Bolshoi Ballet and Chicken Kiev… oh, wait….

  4. Getting to know your enemies is not a waste of time. You need to know everything, good and bad. Since you are unwilling to hear anything bad about Russia and/or Putin, I thought you could say something good.

Speak to me as if I were a citizen of Kherson. Tell me why I should want to be a Russian citizen. Tell me why those people dancing in the streets, greeting the Ukrainian army with flowers and kisses, are fools.

  5. Silly me. I thought you believed Russia was liberating Ukraine from Nazi tyranny. So now the Nazis are back, shouldn’t the citizens be cowering and weeping, not dancing in the streets? Shouldn’t they be berating NATO and the US for sending aide to their Nazi oppressors? Why are they so happy?

You thought wrong. I believe that Russia has decided to destroy the military and current government of Ukraine, and will succeed.

I also believe that the Biden administration will let them.

Mike out the nose funny, you trying to backtrack on things you have been saying since February. Elephants are not only in the GOP. And they do NOT forget, especially when someone tries to say “I didn’t day that”.

      1. No joke. Just fact.
Trump and his minions are under more criminal investigations than the mafia. More Republicans have gone to jail in this administration than in the Nixon administration. The ones who Trump couldn’t pardon have all been taking the Fifth. The Republican party is so divided against itself, so overrun with Hershel Walkers and Marjorie Taylor Greenes, and election deniers it can’t function. It has no platform other than Hunter Biden’s laptop, defunding the war in Ukraine, and tiki torch rallies with those good people.

If that’s not a group of gangsters in charge of a failed party, I don’t know what is.

          1. Google Steve Bannon, Tom Barrack, Elliott Broidy, Michael Cohen, Michael Flynn, Rick Gates, Paul Manafort, George Nader, George Papadopoulos, Roger Stone, Allen Weisselberg, the list is endless.

Trump himself was impeached twice for extortion and insurrection. He’s currently under investigation for mishandling classified documents, election interference in Georgia, criminal tax fraud, and criminal participation in the Jan 6 attacks on the Capitol that nearly got his Vice President killed. And then there was the Stormy Daniels case, for which his lawyer went to jail but he skated free because by then, he was “President.” And there’s also his “staggering record of uncharged crimes:” https://www.citizensforethics.org/reports-investigations/crew-reports/president-trumps-staggering-record-of-uncharged-crimes/#table

He didn’t build a wall and Mexico didn’t pay for it. And the country is still waiting for his better-than-Obamacare solution to the health care crisis. Yet, you and the Republican party are fine with all of that because he lowered taxes. If that’s not “Trump Derangement,” nothing is. That is a failed political party, run by criminals.

And no, even Mark Whittaker can’t hold a candle to Donald Trump. So far as I know, Whittaker never grabbed a woman by the pussy, mocked a disabled man, dishonored a Gold Star family, or got laughed at by the entire world while giving a speech at the UN.

          2. “Trump has lots of faults”…

And you have spent the better part of 6 years trying to justify, defend or deflect ALL of them.

You accused Ms. Radford of saying silly things. I guess YOUR silly things are just better.

  6. Again, silly me. It certainly sounded to me as if you were cheering for Russia to win and were totally upset that Biden dared to support Ukraine. Now it sounds as if you are blaming Biden for not sending them more.

Do you support Ukraine for defending itself or do you think they should have just given Russia everything it wanted and kept their mouths shut?

There’s no doubt Russia is committing genocide in Ukraine. They obviously can’t take the country in battle so they will bomb civilian targets and do as much damage as they can. At this point, it’s more about revenge than war.

Russia’s old allies are starting to abandon them. Only Belarus voted against a UN resolution that said Russia should pay Ukraine war reparations. Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan all abstained.

They can keep hitting civilian targets if they want, but they may get a bill for the repairs.

I don’t support Ukraine in any way. I think Russia could have ignored Ukraine, but I don’t fault Russia for reacting as they have done.

It make me very sad to converse on this subject with people who don’t know anything about it.

        Russia reacting? To what?

Ukraine was invaded in Crimea, then Donbas, then the whole country. Russia screwed up big time and now it is just trying to destroy via terrorism what it has been unable to take.

“Could have ignored Ukraine” ?? What exactly was Ukraine doing that Russia could have, and probably should have, ignored?

Don’t be sad. Enlighten me. What is it about Ukraine that makes you say you don’t support them defending themselves??

Yeah. Only the great and powerful John Roberts has ALL of the answers. Just ask HIM and he will tell you that he is now, was always and always will be the smartest man in the room.

You’re not as smart as you think. You are, IMO, a bit of a jackass. But that is just my opinion.

You have been weighed measured and found wanting. Almost daily.

I never said Trump made the US like a Russian kleptocracy. I said Trump and his minions make the Republican party a “group of gangsters in charge of a failed party.”

The Republican party is not the US. It’s a cancer growing inside the US. Its bile is metastasizing, but this last election was a much needed chemo treatment. If it doesn’t become benign soon, it will be cut out altogether.
