Lying Liars Gotta Lie

https://tinyurl.com/42upn9h6

This right wing LIE is a good example of how MAGA-Republicans distort reality for the dubious political gain of agitating their base. The CDC adds Covid vaccination to their recommended childhood immunization schedules while making it clear that the actual requirements are up to state and local officials. This grain of truth becomes a mandate and an example of big government usurping the roles of parents. It would be laughable if it were not so damaging.

      1. A lot of Virginia localities treated the CDC guidelines as though they were mandates, including the Chesapeake Dept of Health. That’s why I got vaccinated in NC, 3 months before I would have in Chesapeake. Most others did the same, as well as most school systems.

I don’t know the context of the Governor’s tweet but I am glad to hear that he will not allow that to happen again.

Odd you should mention Trump, he got booed by the audience on Bill O’Rielly’s program when he announced that he had gotten his updated booster and urged the listeners to do the same if they were at elevated risk.

Go ahead, pretend that a local decision is an onerous deep state mandate. Why not? Or, you could admit your “abuse” rant the other day was misinformed.

You do not need any “context” to understand that a LIE is a LIE. There is no CDC mandate and the Trump wannabe governor said that there was to prove how bravely he is standing up to the federal government. What a schmuck he has turned out to be as he positions himself in the poisonous GOP for 2024.

I only mentioned Trump to say I had not mentioned him which is what usually triggers our fly-by insulters.

          1. “Context very much matters”

There is not need for context in this case. You are just incapable of admiting your hair-on-fire CDC “abuse” posting was based on LIES. A “recommendation” is NOT a “mandate.” The governor is just another lying liar pandering to the GOP base.

He tweeted this : “We will not adhere to these @CDCgov mandates. In Virginia, parents matter.”

He could have – if he was honest – tweeted this : “We will not adhere to these @CDCgov recommendations. In Virginia, parents matter.”

Still slimy bullshit implying Virginia has a monopoly on caring for the health of children but at least not a LIE.

  1. RE: “This grain of truth becomes a mandate…”

Yes, it does, if state and local officials make it one by enforcing CDC guidance. Thank goodness Gov. Youngkin has announced that Virginia will not do so.

The reason is simple. Covid vaccines have not been tested for safety and efficacy in children of the age to which the CDC guidance applies. It is therefore troubling that the CDC would make the recommendation it has.

Is English not your mother tongue? A federal recommendation does not become a federal mandate because some state or local government decides to follow it.

Have you had the full course of Covid vaccinations? If not, I give you full credit for putting your personal well-being – even your life – at risk for cockamamie anti-vaxx beliefs.

  2. Lying is the “one trick” those ponies have. They have no platform other than dividing the peasants against each other. Hate is their mantra. Hate immigrants, hate blacks, hate gays, hate the IRS, hate the CDC, hang Mike Pence, attack the police, shit on the Capitol floors and smear it on the walls, take down the American flag and replace it with a Trump flag. The have no solutions for affordable health care, for infrastructure, for student debt, to save Social Security, or anything else. All they have is lies and hate.

          1. Okay, Mr Smith, enlighten me. Other than putting kids in cages, what is your plan to deal with immigration? If a 10 year old is raped is she a murderer if she has an abortion? Should Social Security benefits be on the table for cutting every 5 years? Should state legislators be able say who wins a Presidential election in their state, no matter how the people vote? And if a sitting President loses an election, should his Vice President be able to deny certification of the winner? If those aren’t things the Republican Party is okay with, what is your platform?

  5. I would not classify what Youngkin posted as an untruth but merely a preemptive strike. Regardless of whether you agree or not with the “recommendation”, clearly, many states , cities, locallities and school districts will treat it as a mandate. Being a relatively untested product, I understand other people’s concerns even though my family is fully vaccinated and that is my parental choice.

  6. For Lois, because I can’t reply under your weird questions, here goes.
    1. Ask Obama abt putting kids in cages. The way to address illegal immigration is finish the wall and control legal immigration as it should be.
    2. Aside from a few people of both parties, Republicans have no problem with rape victims getting an abortion preferably within 15 to 18 weeks, what are you waiting for. Do you think cracking the skull of a 7 month old fetus just because you changed your mind is not murder? If not, how can one be convicted of murdering an unborn child?
    3. I assume you don’t like the electoral college but its in the constitution for a reason.
    4. Social security is bankrupt in a few years, somethings gotta give. How abt cutting off those that put nothing in it and raise the full retirement age otherwise no one gets anything.
    5. Vice presidents can’t change the outcome of an election.
So, I don’t know where you come up with the really kooky stuff that you accuse the republican party of hence the title of this thread but our responsible platform doesn’t include what you claim while you are apparently stoned on some really powerful hate drugs.

What platform? The GOP platform in 2020 was “Whatever trump says”. That is not governing or an attempt to govern; it is kowtowing to one man. One criminally and ethically challenged man.

Let me know when the GOP has a “responsible platform” and I’ll take a look. Until that time, to claim there is one is delusional and ludicrous.

    1. Ask Obama abt putting kids in cages. The way to address illegal immigration is finish the wall and control legal immigration as it should be.

Ask Obama WHAT about putting kids in cages?  That was totally a Trump thing.  Also, the wall didn’t work and Mexico didn’t pay for it.  Of the few sections of the wall that did get built, most have fallen down and/or had teenagers climbing it for fun.  There are TWO problems with immigration:  legal and illegal.  The Biden administration has dealt with the illegal immigration by increasing border patrols and arrests have topped over 2 million — way more than under Trump.   https://www.texastribune.org/2022/09/19/u-s-mexico-border-arrests-record-2022/  The problems with legal immigration are being caused by people flooding out of fascist-run countries like Venezuela and Nicaragua.  That is not a problem caused by Biden.  Our problem is getting enough resources in place to process the flood of refugees, not building walls.  If WWII taught us anything, it should be to have compassion for people escaping fascist countries.  They are not drug dealers and rapists come to take your job.  They are families with kids seeking help… and IMHO we should do everything we can to give it to them.

    1. Aside from a few people of both parties, Republicans have no problem with rape victims getting an abortion preferably within 15 to 18 weeks, what are you waiting for. The Republican position on abortion has been to avoid the question unless talking to religious-right crowds.  They all said Roe v Wade was established law and would never be overturned… until they had a chance to overturn it.  Texas already has a ban on abortion “from the moment of fertilization.”  And Republican candidates are running on making that the law of the land for the entire country.   And spare me your hypocritical imagery of cracking the skull of a fetus.  Texas schools just sent parents DNA kits for their kids to keep in their lockers so their bodies can be identified when their heads get blown off by assault rifles.  So if you gun humpers can’t give up your assault weapons to spare the skulls of kids that have actually been born, don’t even try to preach about the skulls of fetuses.

    1. I assume you don’t like the electoral college but its in the constitution for a reason.

No, I don’t like the electoral college.  It was put in place to ensure the less populated slave states would sign on to the Constitution and it should have been done away with long ago.  But, bad as it is, it’s worse when Republican state legislatures ignore the popular vote of the people in their state and send fake electors to Washington to vote against the will of the people as they did in Arizona.   https://www.azmirror.com/2022/06/29/updated-trumps-fake-electors-heres-the-full-list/

    1. Social security is bankrupt in a few years, somethings gotta give. How abt cutting off those that put nothing in it and raise the full retirement age otherwise no one gets anything.

There have been books written on the financial condition of Social Security and I’m not even going to try to document that here.  Suffice it to say, Social Security is NOT bankrupt.  It has lifted MANY seniors out of poverty and it continues to do so.  Republicans have done everything in their power to destroy it since FDR created it and they show no signs of ever giving up.

    1. Vice presidents can’t change the outcome of an election.

EXCUSE ME?  Where did I come up with the “kooky idea” that vice presidents could change the outcome of elections?? If Republicans didn’t believe Pence could deny certification of the election, what the hell was January 6 all about?  What were those “hang Mike Pence” chants supposed to be?  Campaign slogans?

Obama built the cages that were in full use in 2014, dear. I know it’s hard to swallow but even your stupid liberal friends tried to blame Trump only to realize photos they used as proof were from 2014. Major LMAO moment. Sick it up cupcake.

      1. Well, “dear,” if Obama built the cages, why did Trump use them? Why did Trump separate children from their families and not keep any records about who the kids belonged to? He deported the parents and left the kids essentially orphans. It has taken years to reunite those kids with their parents. Some of them never did see their parents again. When she was finally shamed into visiting the kids in cages at Christmas, Melania wore a coat that said “I don’t care, do you.” And that said everything anyone needs to know about the Republican position on immigration.

And about that BS about Social Security being bankrupt in 10 years, I’ve been hearing that since I was in the first grade. True story: My first grade teacher, Ms Wood, stormed into the classroom one day after lunch. She waved her finger around the room and screamed, “Every one of you in this room will work and pay Social Security taxes all of your lives and NOT ONE OF YOU WILL EVER COLLECT A RED CENT!” Then she stormed out and slammed the door, leaving a room full of first graders looking at each other, going “what’s Social Security?” Well, Ms Wood, I did work all of my life and I paid Social Security taxes and I wish I could open your grave and let you know, I have collect considerably more than a red cent. The ONLY way Social Security will go bankrupt is if Republicans ever get enough power to defund it. They don’t actually care if the workers are paying the taxes. Their gripe is employers have to match that tax. That’s the part they want gone forever. And, just like Roe v Wade, they’ll do it if they can.

It is not a question of whether there were facilities to hold people and children when needed. It is a question of policy.

Obama ran a program where asylum seeking families were helped and counseled – not imprisoned. Virtually ALL of them turned up in court when they were supposed to. It was NOT the policy of the Obama government to steal children.

On the other hand, Trump (Stephen Miller) decided that the stealing of children was a good way to discourage asylum seekers so that is what he did. Hundreds of young children and babies were victims of this policy and some have yet to be returned to their mothers.

So, your finding a picture of a child in detention during the Obama administration is almost totally irrelevant to the issue.
