When Your Child is Transgender: 5 Myths to Reconsider

I hope Forum participants are astute enough to appreciate the propaganda value of this video. But if not, here is a rundown of the five myths the video uses to create the message that transgenderism is good and healthy and deserves drugs.

Myth #1 It’s just a phase.

Being transgender is a lifelong reality.

Myth #2 Gender dysphoria is a mental illness.

Gender dysphoria is healthy and normal.

Myth #3 Puberty blockers will harm my child.

Puberty blockers are harmless. Besides, medical experts use them only sparingly.

Myth #4 This goes against my religion.

Maybe so, but good religions actually favor transgenderism.

Myth #5 I am losing my child.

You are gaining a wonderful transgender.

For a transcript of the video and some background, go to Bacon’s Rebellion.

My own admittedly inexpert view is that gender dysphoria is probably impossible in children, although sexual confusion at times might be common. It is the latter occurrence that invites perversity of the kind we see in the video.

  1. Regarding #1 My youngest granddaughter plays baseball and with trucks. My youngest grandson plays with Barbies. Neither is the least bit confused. During the pandemic and school closures, they had no one to play with but each other. So they adapted, kids do that, they played with his toys sometimes and hers others.

  2. Thanks for the link.

If a statement of some basic facts by a knowledgeable person caring for patients every day is “propaganda” then so be it. Unlike you, I see nothing in her talk that says “transgenderism is good.” I see her talking about reality without value judgments of any kind.

The real “culture war” issue is the GOP drive to deprive about 60 million women of their fundamental rights. So naturally, you would rather talk about the 1.6 million transgender people in this country and the treatments available to them. Your target audience is people like Mr. Smith and they love this stuff. Knock yourselves out.

In this post I chose to talk about propaganda. I find that weak-minded people tend to believe the lies that propaganda tells them.

And I find that weak-minded people find frank, authoritative, and factual information to be “propaganda.” So, there you go.

      2. It is a conundrum, isn’t it? One person says, “Here’s an example of propaganda that you can study.” To which another person replies, “It is not propaganda.”

Discussion becomes impossible because the premise offered for discussion is immediately rejected. The problem — in this case dubious medical treatment for “transgender” children — cannot be solved.

This very dynamic is why I write about propaganda from time to time. In an of itself propaganda causes harm.

        1. You flatter yourself.

The measure of what is true and what is propaganda is not what you or I want to believe. It is reality. There is nothing this woman says that is not true by THAT standard. She treats these families and she know what she is talking about.

          1. It’s not reality, it’s a sick woman’s opinion being foisted on the public through propaganda. You only want it to be true to support some far left wing extremist agenda.

  3. Adam, that’s the problem, it is not equal protection for all. It is left wing extremist demands that boys pretending to be girls must be able to defy real girl’s rights to privacy in bathrooms and showers and interfere with real girl’s sports. It’s only protecting sick fantasy at the expense of protecting girls rights. You can’t have both.
