Russian Spies Were Behind Black Nationalist Protest Groups

Source: Frontpage Mag.

The great Daniel Greenfield documents recent events in an old KGB project. The labor movement of the early 1900s and the civil rights movement of the mid 1900s were both heavily infiltrated by and influenced by Russian communist/KGB activists. It should be no surprise to anyone that today’s Left is the weird offspring of the same “active measures” program.

  1. Calling Greenfield “great” is not a great way to lead in to your post. But I digress.

Based on YOUR words, Labor Unions (before they became overly political) which provided protections for workers and fair wages, and the Civil Rights movement, which brought better treatment and recognition of the rights held by ALL Americans, regardless of race, creed, sexual orientation, etc., are BAD boogeymen because there was involvement by “Russian communist/KGB activists”.

Greenfield also stated that Russian bot FB posts had nothing to do with 2016’s election, yet the stories flourished throughout media of people who WERE influenced by and shared messages from those posts. Further proof that he is anything but “great”. Unless his greatness is because he only delves deep into things he doesn’t agree with and doesn’t even peek at things that he does, because well, he agrees and therefore no further look-see is needed.

    1. So, Russian efforts to fund these groups, which accepted the help, and propaganda on their behalf don’t implicate them at all, but overtures to the Trump campaign that were rejected are proof that Trump was a Russian agent?

You really do like having things both ways.

In my view, the Russians pursue their national interests in many ways, and don’t really care if those the boost want their help or not. What the Russians do on their own does not taint anyone who does not accept and cooperate with them

      1. I didn’t say that. I said the movements were good and got help from some questionable sources. Peter Thieil comes to mind today. Not to mention the ripoff that is Trump’s legal fee requests so he can fight against an election that was lost two years ago.

“What the Russians do on their own does not taint anyone who does not accept and cooperate with them”

SO the proven use of Russian Bots to promote Trump in 2016, messages that were liked and shared by HIS supporters are OK by you because Russia was just doing what was in their national interest.

        1. If the ChiComs give unsolicited assistance to Democrats online, will you refuse to vote for them?

You can rightfully object to Russians and ChiComs meddling but that does not implicate those they support absent some degree of soordination.

          1. I don’t base my votes on who gets help from whom. I base MY vote on who is more in line with my beliefs.

You say you do that, but sometimes your words betray that. You vote for who you think is best to represent you .Don’t make silly accusations about others.

      2. How does one pronounce Manafort? Or Trump, Jr. nearly wetting his pants at the prospect of getting in tight with Russian intelligence?

Yes, by all means bring on a “Russian collusion” hearing should the GOP prevail. And McCarthy can have his pick of Democrats to serve with him.

      What words are those?

In a 1984 interview with G. Edward Griffen, KGB defector Yuri Bezmenov laid out the Soviet active measures program in the USA. Its aim was to cause the collapse of our nation through a process of psychological warfare called, “demoralization.”

I think it is important to recognize that today’s black nationalist protest groups are descendents, in part, from the active measures effort. Direct Russian influence on the 2016 elections was trivial by comparison.

Your words make it APPEAR that you believe these movements were negative in some way because of assistance received by the KGB. I see that involvement as a bg nothingburger.

          1. I assume NOTHING. I said APPEARS (ALL CAPS, TWINCE NOW). Just pointing out that by your own own words you don’t like labor unions or civil rights movements.

But you never had an issue with your civil rights being blocked taken away or denied outright,.

Sorry if I touched a nerve or pointed out that you seem to believe that labor unions and civil rights are bad things. And you still haven’t clarified if that is what you were getting at. All you did is attempt your semantic games and avoid answering my assertion.

I don’t assume too much; you leave yourself open to interpretation by others.

  2. So, am I to understand that you now believe Russia is interfering in our politics… and that is a bad thing?? Because, from all I have gleaned from your past postings, you didn’t believe the Russians were interfering in our politics and, even if they were, we probably deserved it because we’ve been interfering with Russia’s benevolent efforts to de-Nazify Ukraine.

OF COURSE RUSSIA IS INTERFERING IN OUR POLITICS! And they’re playing both sides! Their goal is to divide and weaken our country. Would they seek out disenfranchised minorities and stoke violence? In a heartbeat! Would they do everything in their power to get a weak, corrupt, politician who’d sell his own mother for the right price, elected President of the United States? In half a heartbeat!

And if you only believe half of that scenario, congratulations, you are now part of Russia’s successfully divided country.

I have written about Russia’s Soviet era active measures program many times here in the Forum. I have also written about my profound opposition to U.S./Nato involvement in the war in Ukraine. These two positions are not incompatible.

FWIW, I think a nation that tolerates free speech may be uniquely vulnerable to propaganda, but it is also uniquely equipped to overcome the risks (by virtue of free speech and open debate). For that reason, I don’t take allegations about Putin’s influence on the 2016 election very seriously.

I’d be more inclined to attribute the incompetent Biden’s ascension to the White House as a long term consequence of the old Soviet demoralization program.

Four people got struck by lightning in Lafayette Park last night. Is that Biden’s fault, also?

Besides, the same program gave us four years of TFG’s incompetence and chicanery.

Not necessarily. The Senate Intelligence report in the story “revealed that the Russian operation had focused most of its attention on black nationalists.” Leftists.

Why not? If you want to create class chaos, start with activists among the lower quintiles and minorities. That is what MAGA was all about. That was the crux of Trump’s inaugural address. Immigrant “invasion” from “shithole countries”. Taking a knee.

        2. “Not necessarily. ”

You tend to see things from a pro-Russian viewpoint, so of course you hedge against the idea.

Not surprising considering your apparent love for all things Russian.

  3. If I were an adversarial country to the US (or any open, Western democracy) and I wanted to sow division and discontent, I would certainly set my sites on the lower economic classes and disaffected minorities.

Last century’s efforts to influence minorities was pretty obvious. Blacks were treated terribly, so the carrot of an egalitarian socialist/communist regime would be at least no worse than getting lynched, forced out of town by sunset or relegated to menial labor.

Since the laws only changed less than a lifetime ago, activists can still be swayed with the right incentives.

There were some activists that did get invited to move to the USSR. At first they were treated with respect. After a few years, however, the blush left the rose.

Honestly, if anyone were feeling brutalized by authorities and limited to subpar education, housing and medical care, a glossy description of socialism or communism looks inviting.

And so goes the campaign of divisiveness. Almost as effective as our last president’s efforts.
