Showing off? And yet, in the article the author also says that geese use this tactic to avoid birds of prey, and to dump altitude around hunters too. So, practice maybe?

I had no idea a bird can fly upside down. The can turn inverted but can their wings create lift to actually fly that way? I would be skeptical.
