DC statehood is coming at an election near you…soon.

There is no good reason to disenfranchise almost 3/4’s of a million Americans because of where they live. The Dakota Territory was split in two to give Republicans two extra seats. Several other Western states were admitted to bolster GOP power.

While we are at it, let’s bring in Puerto Rico which has more Americans than 20 states. The upside is that Mississippi would not be the lowest per capita income state. A bragging point perhaps.

Time to even the score a bit.

    1. Just like the efforts to keep the “wrong people” wink, wink from the polls, it is an unabashed, and admitted goal to let the GOP stay in power in the case Gerrymandering slips a bit.

  1. I didn’t know this was a vote harvesting contest. The reason it is not a state is because it is the federal capital of 50 states. If all of these people who moved to it KNOWING it was not a state suddenly think they are being disenfranchised, there is no reason to cut out enough federal land for the capital and federal buildings including the smithsonian and return the rest back to Maryland from where it came. And that includes all of the nursing homes for democrats to harvest votes from. All settled fair and square. You are welcome.

There is no good reason to enfranchise them because of where they live, either.

Symetrical but very silly comment. There IS a good reason to enfranchise them because of where they live. They were born, raised and live in the United States of America to who they owe allegiance, pay taxes and serve in its armed forces.

I don’t see the logic. The resident’s of the District have representation in Congress and can vote for President. Are we required to confer statehood on any magical turf where American citizens live?

        1. We granted statehood to Alaska and Hawaii. At least the DC residents are part of the contiguous lower 48.

No is required to do anything. But if statehood is accomplished in DC and Puerto Rico, it will be because the people wanted it.

        2. “The resident’s of the District have representation in Congress”..

So do the residents of Guam and Puerto Rico. There is a big issue with those representatives: They have ZERO voting rights in the House and have ZERO representation in the Senate.

    1. Neither the people of DC nor the people of Maryland care for your “solution.”
But, if we do not care what people involved want, let’s force North and South Dakota to be one state. Dakota. Same for Idaho, Montana and Wyoming.

        1. As you may recall, the sailor’s lament about going to Naples, Italy for a few weeks during a Med cruise went something like this:

“When the world needs an enema, there is where the hose goes.”

Unfair, for sure. But in the 1960-70’s, Naples was a wide open town and full of roving gangs of children who rolled sailors like Michelin moves cars.

So I might suggest a similar reputation for the “Castle Robertson”. From what I could detect in your link, the spreading of manure and conspiracies should be constrained to how far a Scott’s spreader covers when pushed by a Dachshund on stilts. The hose would be for the left over detritus.

          1. The dean of the law school hosted the event. I wonder how someone who does not actually believe in the rule of law gets a position like that. Either Robertson has gone senile or just wanted REP. Sparkly Eyes to head his law school.

          2. Robertson is just an Elmer Gantry with money. And that is fine with me except when his lies, and a conference like this, purposefully cause political hatred and resultant violence. He keeps feeding the voter fraud line and we know how the extremists and nut jobs slurp it up like hyenas around carrion.

            IMHO
