Oscars now require ‘inclusion’
So, an award previously based on merit as judged by its peers will now be limited to applicants who meet inclusion standards. So much for merit.
Not that I ever really cared what the Hollywood elite thought has merit, but now even that fig leaf has fallen away in the politicization of everything.
No matter how good a picture might be artistically, it can’t be considered if it doesn’t employ the required number of left handed, lesbian, Albanian nuns.
The Oscars have always been “political”. Some great flicks have been bypassed for subject matter or selected because the director or actors have been snubbed too many times.
I guess affirmative action is part of this trend. Hollywood has always been quite sexist. Older leading men become distinguished and older actresses are just old after the makeup and gauze covered lenses stopped doing their magic.
Come to think of it, this reflects society pretty well. Look at the hullabaloo over Pelosi and her hairstyling. Or past comments about women politicians‘ clothing. We never hear that so and so males wore a nice dark suit and a tie that complements their hair color.
Oscars? Who cares except the recipients and the investors. So if they want to set new rules, it is their show and their money. For the Oscar “watchers”, it is entertainment.
True, in a perfect world meritocracy reins supreme. But we ain’t in a perfect world. It might have been before humans rose to the top of the food chain.

The new specification is not the work of sane, self-actuated human beings. It is better understood as a dictate from higher up in the chain of command of a controlled organization. Don’t be surprised if we see similar specifications rolled out for news media next.

Soooo, who cares what you think, anyway? Guess you just needed to restate the already stated, huh?

The third member of Scott Taylor’s campaign was indicted for election fraud and you’re complaining about the Oscars? Interesting priorities today.

Odd timing, isn’t it, the indictment coming 2 years after the act on a misdemeanor forgery?

So now voter and election fraud indictments are just misdemeanors to be treated with disdain and poo-pooed like yesterday’s garbage?
Timing does not cover the fact that the Taylor campaign is indicted on fraud charges and there is still more to come.
But hey, the Oscars are soooo much more important.

“Oscars now as worthless as Nobel?”
Guess you took that opinion when Obama was awarded it. Not saying he deserved it, but then again did Rush Limbaugh really deserve the Meal of Freedom?

Rush Limbaugh get the medal of freedom after decades of being the lone conservative voice in the media. Were the media overwhelmingly conservative, would not a lone liberal voice be worthy of recognition?
Obama got the Nobel for participation.

Sorry, but the bullshit flag is thrown. Limbaugh got the MoF because he kisses Trump’s 239 pound backside. Hannity and Carlson are next. Trump won’t give it to Ingraham because he doesn’t like to glorify women, just grab ’em by the privates.
