And, here it is . . . from ‘djt’s own fingertips: “Delay the Election . . .”

So, now we finally see his plan in writing and speaking constantly about his wild, stupid fear of mail-in ballots.

This guy must leave the White House on Jan. 20, 2021.

  1. Luckily, it will take Congress to approve any delay in the election. Do you really think Natty Nancy (she does dress quite stylishly) will allow that to happen without a true catastrophe?

    1. Yeah, I read that delaying a presidential election would take the Congress’s approval; but just going through that process is scary enough. There is no guarantee that the GOP would be on board with honoring the mail-in ballot outcome since they can’t stop their knees from shaking when it comes to something as sensible as wearing a mask during a pandemic.

  2. Of course, we knew that would come.

    https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/509738-trump-suggests-delaying-election

Trump, the true fake patriot that he is, has been attacking our Democracy since he came down the gold painted escalator. He was missing the flag cape and a cross in his little grip, but the goal of trashing our elections was starting to grow like slime in a sewer.

He has constantly bashed the election process and now is focused on trashing the election itself.

The ignorant are supposed to believe that mail in balloting will be saturated with millions of vote forms printed in Moscow. Optimists hope that the number of ignoranti is small and that faith in our process is not too badly tainted by the design of the incumbent. Such fraud is virtually impossible except for those who haven’t a clue how the process works.

Repeating a lie is propaganda playbook material. My belief is that Trump lies so much that the impact of his asinine and incendiary Tweets and utterances will be ignored like dog poop on the sidewalk and we do not cave.

The good news is that only Congress can move the election and that takes both Houses. Also, by Constitutional law, the presidential term ends January 20, election or no election.

(Hot news: according to anonymous sources, a no bid contract was issued to Vlads Printing and Mailing Emporium. So the effort for fixing the election is in full gear. Everybody know this, as “they” say.) 😇

  3. And from The Hill story on legal scholars pushing back:

“Ellen Weintraub, a Democratic commissioner on the FEC, the independent agency responsible for enforcing U.S. campaign finance laws, also took to Twitter to respond to Trump’s proposal.

“No, Mr. President. No,” Weintraub tweeted. “You don’t have the power to move the election. Nor should it be moved.”

“States and localities are asking you and Congress for funds so they can properly run the safe and secure elections all Americans want,” she added. “Why don’t you work on that?””

Yes, why doesn’t he work on that? Too busy trying to protect his hotel in DC by asking for money to refurnish the FBI building? Or trying to get his GOP cohorts in the Senate to buy more missiles under a new Coronavirus bill?

      1. To quote djt’s’ tweet:

“With Universal Mail-In Voting (not Absentee Voting, which is good), 2020 will be the most INACCURATE & FRAUDULENT Election in history. It will be a great embarrassment to the USA. Delay the Election until people can properly, securely and safely vote??”

Putting his loopy ‘delay’ thought aside, I have to wonder about the last part of that sentence: “…until people can properly, securely and SAFELY vote…” Safely? REALLY? This fella has the brass to assume anyone believes he has their ‘safety’ on his mind.

Too bad he wasn’t as concerned for Americans back in Jan., Feb., March, etc., about Covid-19 (or, as donald called it ‘the Democrat’s new hoax’.) Maybe if the pathetic leader of the country had have had a smidgen of concern for Americans’ well-being, he would have suggested the benefits of wearing a mask, social distancing and so on. But, no. He had to show his ‘macho’ and never suggest those things, only mock people who were listening to the actual doctors. Only in the past week has he pulled his head out of his you-know-what and decided to suggest what the professionals have been saying all along. I guess his ‘ratings’ finally got low enough to make him care about us.

It’s a little late to take donald’s concern for Americans seriously. Especially when reading his daily Coronavirus notes.

He needs to go. Where? Eh, don’t care – just go.

        1. You left out the third question mark at the end of Trump’s rhetorical question. Don’t like being trolled?

        2. When Nancy Pelosi, in February, invited people to shop and dine in San Fran’s China Town did you make the trip? Doesn’t sound like she was all that worried about the virus or the health of those who might take her advice. Do you levy the same thoughts towards her as you do the president or does she get a pass?

          1. Yes, as a matter of fact, she does. She isn’t the POTUS. Also, I’d never put her in any kind of category with that little fella.

          2. Trump is in charge of the administration. Public health and safety are part of his job. His responsibility even if he says he’s not responsible.

Speaker Pelosi is not in charge.

When she went to Chinatown it was to reassure the Chinese businesses that they should not get a backlash from COVID and its Chinese origins.

Of course the virus was going to magically disappear according to Trump, so why be concerned.

Trying to promote Chinatown businesses when President Trump was referring to COVID as the “China” virus was showing her support for businesses that were going to take a hit because of Trump’s rhetoric. Hell, Chinese restaurants in Chesapeake had people come out to support them because of what some idiots were saying.

The only hypocrite here is YOU for not knowing the difference between what Pelosi was doing and what Trump does (or does not) do.

“#Massie – She is second in line of presidential succession and if that is your view than you’re a hypocrite.”

That’s just silly. If Nancy Pelosi was president at any point in this pandemic, we would have far less deaths than we sadly hear of, daily. But, to your comment about the succession to the presidency, do you know how much Nancy Pelosi would have to go through (even at 2nd in line) to get in the White House. 1st, something has to happen to ‘djt’, followed by something then also happening to VP Pence. I’m not saying it can’t play out that way under some horrendous happening; but it’s not likely. So, at this point (as in February) she’s not hovering over the Oval Office for an immediate takeover. Although, we can hope that there might be a way to drag him out even before the election, considering the odd, strange, weird, goofy things he does and comments he makes.

But, no – it was ‘djt’ in the White House then and now, and he IS the person who (IF a serious American leader) would care about Americans in this time of fear, illness, deaths, etc. The coronavirus, hospitalizations & deaths are still rising.

It is not Nancy Pelosi’s job to set the federal government’s strategy. And, ‘djt’ wouldn’t know a strategy for America if his life depended on it.

You can call me a “hypocrite” or whatever else floats your boat, but you still have exactly zilch to defend your ‘leader’ with, and he still is as lacking in all leadership skills as he was on day-one of his presidency, and shows that lack every day. He’s an embarrassment to our country. But, you know that, I’m sure.

He’s got to go, and, as I said before – I don’t care where he wanders off to. Just go. Away. Maybe a galaxy far, far away will be good enough.

      2. So ALMOST the entire GOP got trolled as well as not one has come out in agreement with him.

The one’s are saying it is a “joke” or a troll attempt, are blind defenders of an autocrat wannabe who is a danger to this country and its values.

It ain’t about “owning the Libs”, it is about our democratic process and anyone who says that Trump’s tweet is nothing are just beggin’ to be ruled by the Grand Orange One.

And not ONE defender here has accepted the fact that he CAN’T DO IT. You all seem to believe it is just fine. I prefer living under American standards of democracy, not autocratic rule as is happening in Hong Kong.

        1. RE: “And not ONE defender here has accepted the fact that he CAN’T DO IT.”

That was obvious to anyone who learned civics in grade school. The point you’re missing is that Trump never said he could [delay the election], or even that he wanted to.

There was no monster under the bed.

Then maybe Pompeo and Barr should go back to grade school. Instead of saying it is the law, they said things like “The Justice Department will make that determination”… Or words to that effect (from Pompeo during Congressional testimony. And Barr also said he needed to look into it because he wasn’t sure. Seriously? The Attorney General doesn’t know THAT very basic, elementary school level idea and he would have to look into it?

” Trump never said he could [delay the election], or even that he wanted to.”…

I suggest YOU return to elementary school for 4th grade reading comprehension. By even forming it in a question, he is indicating his 1) willingness and 2) desire to do so.

I don’t believe it is an impeachable offense, as the founder of The Federalist Society suggested, but this gas-lighting bullshit has got to stop.

No. Barr said he had never researched the question because he had never been asked it before. That was appropriate considering his position as AG.

“Only in the imagination of an illiterate.”

Referring to your opposites as “illiterate” is no way to convince them they are wrong. Hell, telling the GOP folks that came out against the idea that they are also illiterate just shows how out of touch you are with reality. And you should know, deep in that part of your soul where you hide the truth about Trump, that you are lying to yourself and the gas lighting by Trump has you so discombobulated, you can’t see the truth any more.

It doesn’t take a PhD in psychololgy to see that.

      2. You are just what Trump wants.

The goal is not to move the election. Trump does tweet mostly lies or spurious, even racist retweets, so he may not have known that the election can’t be moved except by Congress.

The idea is the same theme Trump has ranted about since 2016: delegitimize our elections and, by extension, our system of governance.

Evidently it is working. Sorry to see you included. But you have, after all, lamented that voter participation is a bad thing.

So Trump may have been preaching to the choir.

  4. Three recommendations to help protect election security.

    https://slate.com/technology/2020/07/congress-election-security-2020.html

The issue I have is the GOP did not include ANY money for election security in their COVID proposal, but they did for missiles, and the WH wanted $1.5 billion to renovate the FBI Building. The House passed bill in May had money for election security.

Why doesn’t the GOP want to protect the election? Could it be they fear the electorate and don’t trust them (us) to return them to office? They WANT the election to be questioned? Between voter suppression in areas that tend to vote Democrat (closing of polling places, purging of voter rolls, etc.) and not providing money for election security when the states are going broke due to the pandemic, they appear to be so busy trying to protect their jobs, that they aren’t DOING their jobs.

And for those who think it would constitute a federal takeover of state run elections, the money needs to be allocated with no preconditions except that it be used for election security.
