The Federalist: Obama Jan 5 meeting
So, it wasn’t a few rouge FBI agents acting on their own, but a directed effort to sabotage the incoming administration at the direct orders of outgoing President Obama.
Hemingway left out the context and the rest of the email that Rice sent to herself.
“ President Obama began the conversation by stressing his continued commitment to ensuring that every aspect of this issue is handled by the Intelligence and law enforcement communities “by the book”. The President stressed that he is not asking about, initiating or instructing anything from a law enforcement perspective. He reiterated that our law enforcement team needs to proceed as it normally would by the book.
From a national security perspective, however, President Obama said he wants to be sure that, as we engage with the incoming team, we are mindful to ascertain if there is any reason that we cannot share information fully as it relates to Russia.
The next part of your email remains classified. After that, you wrote:
The President asked Corney to inform him if anything changes in the next few weeks that should affect how we share classified information with the incoming team. Comey said he would.”
Per a link to Grassley’s letter to Rice
Not it seems to me that as Obama was still President and responsible for the security of the US, what was said made perfectly good sense. Handle all investigations with regard to the Russia investigation into election interference “by the book”. No freelancing, just legal and straightforward.
As to the sentence about sharing information, as President he had to be careful with classified information about Russia. Considering Trump’s overt efforts through his son to get dirt from high up in Moscow, and Flynn’s covert efforts to contact Russia and tell them everything is going to be fine once we take office.
Toss in Manafort’s pro-Russian business for millions, Trump’s business dealings with Russian oligarchs and underworld characters in the recent past and his own campaign rhetoric.
Yeah, I would expect my President to be very concerned and careful before trusting Trump.
The rest of the opinion, or article, was a rehash of the Flynn case leading up to the current fiasco. Tons of speculation, innuendoes and few corroborating links.

You mean THIS Manafort:

Who said anything about Manafort? Though I would remind you he was convicted of prior offenses unrelated to his work for the Trump campaign.
The jury foreman, after reluctantly voting to convict, told the press that these were the kinds of offenses that normally are settled in a tax audit.

You have grasped enough straw to feed a horse.
“kinds of offenses that normally are settled in a tax audit.“
Both irrelevant and patently untrue…

That is, nonetheless, what the jury forewoman said.

So unfair!
Trump hardly knows this Manafort fellow. “I didn’t know Manafort well,” Trump said in an interview with Fox News. “He wasn’t with the campaign long.”
No matter what the lame stream media may tell you there are a lot of people that Trump hardly knows or never heard of or had no way of knowing anything about. At one time or another he has said as much about these people in no particular order.

Excellent summary by Mollie Hemingway. The main thing I notice is the extraordinary complicity of mainstream news outlets in promoting the RussiaGate hoax. Those who think they know the truth are — by and large — consumers of the same news and information those very outlets put out. So, for them, it will be difficult to credit that they were lied to.

I guess it is one huge conspiracy involving the MSM except, of course, for FOX and the enlightened right wing sites.
It includes the entire bureaucracy, except, of course, for the patriotic appointees revolving through the administration at a RPM rate rivaling the P-51 Mustang engine.
And not to forget about 60% of the American citizens.
If people would just listen to reason…

The MSM reported single sourced, selectively edited, leaks fed to them by the Obama administration DOJ and Mueller’s aides, in spite of their well publicized standard of requiring confirmation.
So, yes, I would say the MSM has become little more than the propaganda organ of the Democratic party.

We disagree.
Now FOX and all its affiliates are part and parcel a Trump propaganda machine. When it’s pundits got on the campaign stage with Trump that sealed the deal.
WSJ has some editorial independence which is admirable. As does WAPO owned by Uber-Capitalist Bezos. Others are still owned by the remaining handful of mega-corps. Do all media share feeds? Of course. But the biggest and best have “boots on the ground”.
Nothings perfect. But I dread a Trumpian version of press freedom where lawsuits and license removal would prevail for critics.
“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”

Apparently only Todd’s sources are worthy of being truthful. I tend to find the majority of them truth-Y. Yet there he stands by them. Because in Trumpworld, truthy is the way to go. Honestly is for losers.

The MSM failed to follow its own standards when reporting leaks fed to it by Comey and the Obama DOJ.

“The MSM failed to follow its own standards . . .”
So you keep saying without any actual evidence.
Leaks?
Compare the leaking done by the Starr Chamber over its four years with that done by Mueller. Trick question. There is no comparison.
Compare the leaks coming out of the DOJ with the leaks coming out of the Trump appointed staffers in the White House. Again a trick question. There is no comparison.
The Obama DOJ? Obama left office on January 20, 2017. Duh!
I suppose you are referring to the “deep state” made up of career public servants whose tenure goes back through many administrations.

Yes, unelected bureaucrats who subvert the elected officials they are supposed to answer to.
And of course, the article refers to what the Obama DOJ did between the election and Jan 20 2017

RE: “I guess it is one huge conspiracy involving the MSM except, of course, for FOX and the enlightened right wing sites.”
Hemingway describes a conspiracy involving Obama’s White House, FBI, intelligence officials, CNN and WAPO. That’s pretty specific and, of course, we have both the Schiff transcripts and the Mueller report to confirm that none of conspirators had any evidence of collusion with Russia by either Trump or members of his staff.

No evidence of a conspiracy, not collusion. Big difference.
Hemingway May have described a “conspiracy”, but that does not make it so.
My quote from which she pulled her out-of-context “proof” of Obama’s early January meeting as a push to destroy Trump tells the tale of bad reporting.

Hemingway mentions the Susan Rice memo because it documents the occurrence of the Obama meeting on January 5 with the key conspirators. The content of the memo cannot be taken seriously at face value because a) it is hearsay b) it is self-serving, and c) it is ambiguous.

As always there is no slander directed at President Obama that you will not spread. No matter how divorced from reality it is. This one is like the others slanders and lies you have regurgitated is patently absurd. A coup? Get real. You are just embarrassing yourself – again.

You’re the one who claimed President Trump was a Russian asset guilty of treason based on Schiff’s outright lies.
And it is quite clear that on Jan 5th, President Obama established the pattern of obstructing the incoming administration rather than providing for a smooth transition as Bush did when Obama took office.

There is absolutely no question that trump is a Russian asset.
The only question is whether his dumb ignorant ass is aware of it.

You continue to embarrass yourself with such nonsense.
I believe what I believe about Trump based on the evidence made public. You should too. All of the evidence that any sentient person would need to understand the banality and corruption of this huckster comes directly from him. Every goddamn day.
Polemics you read on this or that wingnut or racist web site is not evidence. Anybody with any critical thinking skill and a smattering of objectivity would know that. In this case, you are spreading the opposite of the truth. Obama did his best to prepare Trump for the job. He, for example, tried to warn him about Flynn. Trump, the pig man that he is, would not or – more accurately – could not rise above his petty hatreds and listen.
What I find truly laughable is people who deride the intellect of others while being such easy prey for the bullshit and gas lighting which just about the only skill that Trump has.

Overall, we rate The Federalist a borderline Questionable and far Right Biased based on story selection and editorial positions that always favor the right. We also rate them Mixed for factual reporting due to the promotion pseudoscience and three failed fact checks.

Daily Kos?
Sure, they are NeverTrumpers on steroids but they do not need “alternative facts” to make their points. That cannot be said of your favored outlets that are really and truly de facto parts of Trump’s Ministry of Truth.

You are the one completely divorced from reality. All you do is link idiotic liberal bullshit all the time like DailyKOs and make up conspiracy theories claiming they are fact, like your Venezuela conspiracy theory was proved BS. In FACT, NONE of the witness for Schitt and Mueller had ANY direct evidence of collusion and SAID so when asked. Sad part is Schitt still maintains some conspiracy happened even after being debunked over and over. And YOU have the audacity of claiming others “slander” Obummer?
