Tribune is reportedly moving its Norfolk newsroom and staff to Newport News.

That would truly be bad. I am just curious who the 40 folks that are happy about the idea.

I’m sure reporters will be able to work and file stories remotely, but the long-range implications for local coverage are grim. What’s left of the editing, design and admin staff will now have to commute to Newport News’ City Center to work.

A striking development. Thanks for sharing it.

Geez people! It’s just the other side of the HRBT. It’s not like you can’t drive it in a couple of three hours, ya know.

The two most populous cities in the Commonwealth are in SOUTH Hampton Roads (or Southern Tidewater, or #757South). It makes little sense from a coverage standpoint. Ad I’m sure the reporters that plug in at the printing plant on Greenwich Rd will just be tickled by the work environment there. (That is according to the Pilotonline.com story)
