It turns out that Pompeo’s office agreed to let Mary Kelly of NPR ask about Ukraine. And nothing about being off-the-record, just no audio recording.
This was in emails produced by NPR about the exchange with Pompeo’s press secretary Katie Martin.
Of course Pompeo had doubled down earlier calling Kelly a liar.
In the grand scheme, this is just another Trump sycophant lying. Yet add this to the McSally blowoff of a seasoned CNN reporter the other day, and there is no question the regime, its enablers and Senate supporters are starting to panic.
Here is the thing as I see it. Trump doesn’t return loyalty, he only punishes disloyalty. Those that are caught in the middle are not going to defend the indefensible. They are starting to feel the pressure of unquestioned support of a man who wouldn’t return the favor in times of trouble. Like now.
There is a saying that if you want a friend in Washington get a dog.
Trump needs one now.

Here is thing as I see it. Pompeo screwed up. He doesn’t deserve a pat on the back, but neither does the incident deserve to be made more of than it is.

I don’t disagree. But since the media is under daily attack it is at least nice to hear some vindication.
Pompeo flat out called a very respected, experienced journalist a liar while doubling down after verbally attacking her in person. He is under pressure, there is no doubt about that.
Panic? That was my opinion. No conspiracy theory.
