NYP: How five members of Joe Biden’s family got rich through his connections

The link features an excerpt from Peter Schweizer’s new book, “Profiles In Corruption: Abuse of Power by America’s Progressive Elite.” More usefully, perhaps, it describes in nuts-and-bolts fashion how crony capitalism operates.

  1. For Schweizer to consider this an “abuse of power” is laughable.

Apparently the GOP cult is now left with nothing more than disproportionate “whataboutisms”

  2. For better or worse, business in America, and elsewhere, is not a question of what you know as much as who you know. And, yes, having political connections in a representative government and a capitalist economy is an advantage. It has been since before the revolution, for that matter.

The White House is a daily family reunion with folks doing quite well with contacts in Saudi Arabia, China, India…

Oh, sorry. Executive privilege. Move along now, nothing more to see here.

True, and it will always be thus. The issue is not that it exists as an aspect of human nature, it’s that public servants cannot be caught using their “public” power to coerce or insure that certain actions are taken for their or their families enrichment.

That seems to be one of the many points the cult just can’t wrap their heads around.

  3. Mr Trump and his family do not need the swamp’s $$$ — they have their own.

Over the yrs, the POTUS has become the “front man” who gets too much of the credit for the good, and too much of the blame for the bad. Typically, they are wholly owned puppets who are there to play the role of fall-guy if things blowup.

However, Mr. Trump is not owned by anyone — and they cannot control him. That is why they are going after him so hard. I did not expect the swamp-state to go quietly and do not expect them to let up. They will continue to to go after him for next five yrs.

Unfortunately, swamp-state corruption will outlast all of us!

    1. “Mr. Trump is not owned by anyone “… Some would argue he is owned by Putin. I would say that is a bit hyperbolic, but if he is not owned, he is one helluva a partner to the Russian leader.

And your last sentence is one I can’t argue with. However, if Congress would do something about Citizens United, it could move things in the right direction. That swamp state needs its funding.
