President wants staff to testify in Senate…he said so himself.

But McConell says “Nyet”. Not on his watch will he allow witnesses.

“So when it’s fair — and it will be fair in the Senate. I would love to have Mike Pompeo. I’d love to have Mick. I’d love to have Rick Perry and many other people testify. But I don’t want them to testify when this is a total fix. You know what a fix is? This is a fix…
…but I want them to testify, but I want them to testify in the Senate where they’ll get a fair trial.” NATO Summit press conference with PM Trudeau.

I would bet while Mitch was “consulting” with the White House, he told Trump to demand witnesses. But then he would make it all “go away” by refusing to do so.

To borrow from Bill Maher: Trump’s asking Comey to end the Russia thing by making it “go away” like a restaurant owner asking a food inspector “can’t you just make this go away” after finding a human finger in the linguini.

Mitch, the food inspector, intends to do just that.

IMHO, of course.

  1. RE: “But McConell says ‘Nyet’. Not on his watch will he allow witnesses.”

According to your own source, McConell would allow witnesses if the Senate votes to have them. His plan is to start the trial, then decide on witnesses. That makes sense to me, since the case deserves to be dismissed on its face. If dismissed, witnesses would be unnecessary.

  2. When you conduct a hyper-partisan House inquiry that amounts to nothing more than baseless political babble, what do you honestly expect from the Senate? To bend over for Democrats to babble more? Everyone knew the end game long before Pelosi bowed to her unherdable cats. Pelosi is now playing damage control over a risk she lost. Don’t act surprised and indignant now, it’s just not becoming.

    1. But Bob, Trump himself has spoken. He wants testimony in the Senate. He said so.

McConnell has dutifully carried out his master’s wishes to the tee on everything else, why not this?

It would clear the air, make the Democrats look bad and the regime look good. The upsides are just amazing.

      Everybody knows that.

Let Pelosi look foolish with the testimonies of those who knew exactly what happened.

Opportunities are not made to be wasted.

      1. Ok, how about the Senate GOP follow the same model as the House and hyper partisan Schiff and calls who they please and only allows 1 GOP preapproved Democrat favored witness. Sound like a plan to you? Honestly, the process calls for the charges to be found of merit before discussing witnesses and that is a huge hurdle especially considering this is purely politics and not law. This will unfold just like Clinton…Dismissed, now move on. Then the Democrats can babble even more into the election which was the plan to start with.

        1. The Senate is the place where the trial takes place and The House is where the investigation took place.

          Different animals.

Besides, don’t you want Trump to get exactly what he wants? And he wants witnesses to testify. Usually when a president indicates his wishes, the subordinates hop to it and “git ‘er dun”.

In the past Trump’s s Republican lackeys have fallen all over themselves to appease the regime. Why not now?
