Vietnam all over again

There is no doubt in my mind that the underlying cause for this catastrophe is the military-industrial mindset and culture of the US.

It matters not who is president, which is pretty obvious since we are still there with even more troops since Trump took over.

Again, the government commits huge sums, (in this mess about a trillion plus), lies to the public about results and we lose a lot of American lives. Vietnam redux.

The president, not just Trump BTW, is ultimately to blame. Although all three were probably lied too also.

I feel that Congress has to get a backbone and take power back from the executive branch. Too much for a single, often inexperienced and overwhelmed person to handle.

PS: for those who can’t access WaPo, this is a huge report and AP did a summary in the Pilot…if you can find it. Pentagon Papers all over again. WTF.

  1. Apparently, they have recently discovered the ACTUAL email sent by George Tenet to G.W. Bush that fomented the Iraq war. Long thought deleted, and lost to history, archivists at the Bush library discovered a paper copy among the former President’s papers.

It read simply, “WMD is a slamduqk. Attack Iraq.”
